Ghost (X-men fanfic)

Chapter 14

 Serene POV

It was impossible to describe what I saw. To put it in simplest terms, fragments of metal were circling in the air, in currents. What looked like to be pounds and pounds, whole cities reduced to fragments of metal. But in the middle was a pyramid. I knew that most of this was my dad's doing, I just didn't know he could do this much damage. Chiro was destroyed. And in a matter of minutes, hours, the whole world would be to. An apocalypse.

"Seventh wonder, twelve o'clock." Hank said from the front of the plane. Raven jumped up, holding onto the boards ahead and looked out.

"He has the Professor in the center of the pyramid." Jean said, breathing heavily. "He's going to transfer his consciousness into the Professor. If he does that, he'll have the power to control every mind in the world. Moria and Hank started to lower the plane.

"What the hell is that?" Moria asked. I craned my neck to try and spot what she was looking at. She was looking at one of the metal currents.

"It's Erik." Raven said. Peter and I both rushed up to her side. Raven turned to Jean and the others. "You guys help Nightcrawler get into the pyramid. Get Charles. I'll take care of Erik.

"How are we gonna get through that?" Hank asked. Peter and I shared glances.

"I can get you in there." Peter said. "And Serene's nickname is Ghost for a reason. She can possibly shift through the matter." Raven gave Peter a look.

"We came here for him." I said. "Let us help you." Raven nodded.

"The rest of you," Raven turned back to the others again. "Get Charles on this plane and get him out of here."

"We're not leaving without you!" Kurt said.

"Don't worry," Peter said. "We'll catch up."

"Hold on." Hank said. He started to lower the plane down farther.

"Hank, you go with the kids," Raven said. "Moira will be waiting on the plane."

"Wait," Scott said. We turned around to face him.

"What?" Raven asked.

"Not all of us can fully control our powers." Scott said.

"Then don't." Raven replied. "You need to embrace them. We all do." As she said that, she slowly turned back into her natural blue form. Mystique. I stepped on one side of Peter and Raven stepped on the other. Peter put his goggles on and put his hands on the base of our necks so that we won't get whiplash. I closed my eyes and felt my body quickly being pulled. When I opened my eyes we were standing on a platform in front of what seemed like to be a bubble of small metal fragments with much smaller currents. The big currents all connected to this one spot. In the middle was Magneto. He had his classic red helmet on and had his eyes closed.

Peter POV

I had slowed down time to try and see if I could push through, but I couldn't. It was up to Serene now to get in. I went back over to Serene and Raven, making time go back to normal.

"The magnetic field is too strong, I can't get us in there." I told them. I turned to Serene. "It's up to you now." But she didn't reply. She was looking up at Erik, her face dead white and her bottom lip quivering.

"I can't do this," She said in a whisper.

"Serene, you can do this, you just need to let yourself do it." Raven encouraged. BUt Serene shook her head.

"I can't." She said, her voice cracking. "I'm sorry." She slowly started to disappear turning herself invisible. Great. Raven looked at me. I sighed and shook my head.

"She's been through too much, don't hold it against her." Raven nodded and turned back to Erik.

"Erik!" She called. Erik opened his eyes and turned his head towards us.

"Mystique," I heard him whisper.

"I know you think you've lost everything," Raven started. "But you haven't. You have me. You have Charles. You have Serene. You have more family than you know."

"But I don't have Serene." He snapped. "She was taken away from me, don't bring her into this." But Raven ignored his comment and tried to continue on.

"You never had the chance to save your family before." She said. "But you do now. That's what I've come here to tell you."

"And you?" Erik asked me. I was silent for a moment, thinking about what I was going to say.

"I'm your....." But I couldn't finish the sentence. "I'm here for my family, too."
