Serene POV
"Charles, you can track her with your mind." I heard Scott say right as Peter and I entered the lab. Charles was sitting in a medical chair. I instantly figured that he had tried to help Jean but had obviously failed.
"Not anymore," Charles sighed, answering the unspoken question. "She's grown too powerful, even for me."
"She said she was going to see her father." Scott commented. "That doesn't make any sense, right?" Charles looked uncomfortable for a second before sitting up.
"Prepare the jet. We're going to bring her home." Charles said.
"'We'? Charles, you're in no condition." Raven countered.
"I have to stop this. She's going to find..." Charles muttered. "She's going to find nothing good there."
"Well, lying to someone that their parent is dead is no good thing, Charles." I pointed out quickly.
"Wait, so you knew?" Peter asked.
"Yeah," I sighed. "Yeah I did."
~~
On the jet, Raven was the first to break the silence.
"How do you know where she's going, Charles?" She asked. "If you can't track her, how do you know where she is?"
"You know how." Charles said.
"Jesus Christ." Raven muttered. She turned around to face him. "What did you do?"
"I protected her." Charles defended.
"From the truth/" Raven stated. Raven turned back to face the front of the jet. "There's another word for that."
~~
We all walked out of the jet toward the small house. It was on a street like any other with other houses surrounding it. Just another normal neighborhood. I caught sight of Jean standing on the porch. She started walking toward us as we got closer.
"You shouldn't have come here." Jean said bitterly.
"Why is that?" Charles asked. "We've only come to bring you home, Jean."
"I don't have a home. You made sure of that." Jean snapped back.
"Look, your father couldn't handle you," Charles continued. "And we took you in."
"You told me my father was dead, and you used me for my powers." Jean fumed.
"No, that's just not true." Charles counted. "That's not what happened. Jean, we can help you. I can help you, but you have to listen to me."
"No. No I don't." Jean said.
"Scott." Charles whispered, turning toward him. Scott slowly walked forward towards Jean.
"He lied to me, Scott. About everything." Jean said, walking towards us again before stopping.
"We'll figure everything out together. Just come back to me." Scott said. "Remember, you said you'd always come back to me. Come back to me." I could hear sirens wailing in the distance and then saw police cars driving towards us. Jean noticed them too and turned towards them.
"Jean." Scott whispered.
"Stay away from me." Jean muttered, putting her hands as orange streams crossed her face. Her energy. She was going to have another energy surge. "Stay away from me. Stay away from me!" She pushed her hand out towards the cars as they both flipped over, both of cars' hoods smashing inward as if they had run into a wall.
