Ada

Ada rode behind James on his black harley, hesitant hands around his waist. He didn't object, but she could feel how tense he was.

About half an hour later, he stopped by a wooden cabin in the middle of the woods, got off his bike, and strode towards it. Ada followed.

"So, what has your father done?" James plopped down in a faded green armchair. "and how does it concern my famiy?"

Ada sat in front of him, on an identical armchair, clasping her fingers in front of her. "What I'm about to tell you will probably, most definitely sound crazy, but please hear me out first without judging or freaking out."

"I'm starting to think you're some kind of a serial killer or something..." James looked suspicious.

Ada chuckled nervously and wetted her lips. "I didn't withdraw from you voulentarily. My father, he...he locked me up, for a whole week..."

"Why the hell would he do that?" James's eyes flashed with anger.

"He's an asshole. I tried to get out, but couldn't. My sister was the one who broke me out eventually..."

"The same sister who pimped out his boyfriend?"

"It's complicated..."

"I should have come." James said, running both hands through his face.

"No..."

"I should have never listened to you..."

"I'm glad you did."

"But what was the real reason?"

"Because we were dating. He told me to end it. I didn't listen. He snapped."

James pulled his dark eyebrows together. "Does he not like you to date in general or date me in particular? Does he think I'm not good enough for you?"

Ada sighed. "Probably the second..."

"But why? What's wrong with me?" He diden't look hurt, just confused.

"There's nothing wrong with you." Ada reasured him. "he doesn't understand the concept of free will. He has these stupid rules that he wants everyone to follow. I kept breaking them, and being the control freak that he is, it didn't sit well with him."

"Your father's a bastard."

"I know. I tried to kill him." Ada whispered the last part, looking at her hands. "he hurt my mom, and hit me. He'd never done that before..."

"Why didn't you?" James asked, lifting Ada's face. His rough fingers caressed her cheek. His eyes were kind, understanding.

She looked back at him, sitting on the edge of her armchair. "One of his gaurds knocked me out before I could."

"I'm so sorry about all of this and I'm glad you're here, that you're free, but I still don't understand what any of this has to do with me and my family?"

Ada cleared her throat. "This is the part where you might freak out or think I'm crazy."

James scrunched up his eyebrows. "Right."

"Tell me, do you believe in supernatural stories? As in witches, werewolfs, vampires, and things like that?"

Suddenly James withdrew his hand from her face, and shot up to his feet. "I don't want this to be true."

Ada remained seated. "Well it is. I am from one of those stories. I'm a vampire."

"And you didn't think you should have mentioned this sooner?"
