Ada"Do you feel better?" Ada asked Maggie in a low voice, even though she was sure the brothers couldn't hear them over the blast of music.
It was some French rap song. When Ada asked Jack if he spoke the language, he'd said. "My soul does."
"Yeah." Maggie whispered. "Thank you for giving me space."
"It was actually Jack's idea." Ada confessed. "I know we all need space sometimes, but I'm here for you. You can tell me anything."
She nodded. "Ok."
Rain slid down the windows. Jack asked Maggie to traslate a word on the map. She leaned towards him from the back seat. It had been like this since they'd gotten into the car. Jack had been able to figure out most of the direction himself, but needed Maggie's help when it came to the Arabic inscription.
Ada hadn't looked at the map. It was too confusing.
She leaned back, propping her feet up on James's head rest. He caught her eye in the front mirror and smiled."Holly shit." Ada gasped and sat up.
"What is it?" James turned around in his seat, alarmed.
Jack turned down the music, frowning at her in the front miror.
"I think this map leads to my house." Fear twisted her stomach.
Jack stopped the car.
"Yeah it does." Maggie confirmed her doubts. "I thought you knew."
Ada got out of the car. She tried to breath. She couldn't go back there. She couldn't face her Father.
"Ada what's wrong?" Maggie had followed her out.
"That's some coincident." Jack was saying from inside the car.
"That's too much of a coincident." James answered him.
"It used to be my grandfather's." Maggie explained, Sounding worried. "Your father must have bought it afterwards."
"And you didn't think you should have mentioned this earlier?" Ada snapped, panting with anxiety.
"I thought you already knew..."
"I didn't."
"How was I supposed to know that?"
"I don't know."
"I don't understand why it matters so much."
"I don't want to go back to that shithole." Ada shouted, pressing her palm against her mouth.
Maggie looked confused. "Why? Did something happen?"
Ada couldn't talk. She was too busy panicking.
"I swear I have no idea what you're talking about. Did something happen to your family? Are they Ok?"
"You really don't know... what my Father did?" Ada said in a shaky voice.
"No." Maggie exclaimed and grabbed her hand. "You're scaring me Ada. What the fuck is going on?"
"He... He locked me up for a week. Because I was going out with James. That's why I was at his cabin. Nora helped me run away."
"Shit. Baby I'm so sorry."
Maggie was horrified. "I swear I didn't know."Ada sniffed, wiping away at her eyes. "Really?"
Maggie nodded. "Really. Please don't be mad at me. I had no idea your Dad was like this. He was so kind back then."
Ada sighed. "A lot has changed."
Maggie pulled her into a hug and kissed her hair. "I'll kill him if you want. Just say the word."
Ada laughed brokenly. "I'll think about it." She hugged her tighter. "I should have read the damn map."
"You always sucked at figuring out directions."
"I did." Ada laughed.
Maggie grabbed her face between her hands. "Let's not go to your house. Fuck the cure."
"No, we have to go."
"Why? Let's just leave together. You're more important to me that being human."
Ada's heart melted. "We could but what if we regret it? We have to at least try."
"Are you sure? There are small spaces involved."
"I'll be Ok." Ada smiled. She still remembered. "I'm sorry for freaking out and blaming you."
Maggie kissed her forehead. "It's Ok. Then at least stay back in the car."
"You know I won't leave you to deal with this alone."
Maggie smiled. "I know." She kissed her.
Ada kissed her back, hoping James wasn't watching.
"So we're doing this?" Jack asked after they got into the car.
"We're doing this." Ada answered.
