Gideon stood beside Ada and watched as she stared at the children playing in the backyard of the kindergarten.
"Didn't take you for a kidnapper."
Ada rolled her green eyes, brown hair blowing in the wind. "Don't get your balls in a twist. I'm just taking my kid home. I'm her mother after all."
"Hurting a five year old kid is too low Ada, even for you."
"I won't need to hurt her if her mother cooperates." She entered the building.
Gideon followed. "What makes you think she won't kill you on the spot after threatening her daughter, and shapeshifting into her wife?"
"I have insurance."
"And what is that?"
"Wouldn't you like to know?" Ada gave him a sly smirk.
Gideon pinched his lips together in annoyance, and alarm. "Ada..."
"Mum." A blond girl exclaimed, and threw herself at Ada.
Ada smiled brightly, and picked the girl up, twirling her around in the air. "How's my little pumpkin?"
"Good." The little girl kissed her cheek after Ada put her down. "Who's that?" She pointed a finger at Gideon with a shy smile.
"That's mummy's friend." Ada shot him a warning glare which meant she'd gut him if he ruined her plan.
He smiled, and waved his hand at the little girl.
She waved back. "Hi." Then turned back towards Ada. "Will we go for ice cream today?"
Ada ruffled her short hair. "I'm busy sweatheart. Maybe tomorrow."
"But you said that yesterday." The girl pouted.
"I know. I'm really sorry, but I'll make it up to you."
"Ok." She gave her a toothy grin, and ran out of the building.
"I don't know weather to be amazed, or horrified." Gideon told Ada as he walked beside her.
"Why would you be either?" She kept an eye on the energetic little girl.
"You lied to a five year old kid, and you were surprisingly convincing, and also because only God knows where you've stuffed her real mother."
"She's fine."
"Is she?"
"Yes. I may be immoral, but I have my limits. That little girl doesn't deserve to become an orphan just because one of her moms is an evil bitch. As long as she gives me what I want, the kid will be fine."
"And if she doesn't?"
"She will."
"You know too much confidence is deadly, right?"
