Eddie Kingston X Harper Moxley (OFC)

~

"I quit..."

The ref signaled for the bell. The match was finally over. Jon tried to help Eddie up, but he didn't want anything to do with him.

I walked up the few steps to meet Jon as he got out of the ring. Jon put an arm around my shoulders before the two of us walked backstage.

When we got back to medical I sat behind Jon and started pulling the thumbtacks out of his back while he was being looked over.

"Just like old times, huh?" Jon asked.

"If this was old times you'd look a hell of a lot worse," I said.

"Yeah you have a point," Jon said.

"Alright, you are officially thumbtack free," I said as I pulled the last one out.

"Thanks, sis," Jon said. "You don't have to stay here with me you know."

"I don't mind," I said.

"I know you're worried about him," Jon said. "Go talk to him."

I sighed.

"Meet you in the locker room later?" I asked.

"I'll be there," Jon said.

I quickly washed my hands before heading out the door.

The door to Eddie's locker room was cracked open and I could hear him talking to Brandon about something for BTE. I decided to wait rather than interrupt what they were doing.

"And we're rolling," Brandon said.

I leaned back against the wall.

"I know the winners do the press conference thing, but I just wanted to put this out on the social. Jon said something to me in the ring at the end. He said it's over and I told him it's never over. I sold my soul to the devil and the devil is playing the game of pro-wrestling. Something I'd never done. I politicked, I jumped him, I talked shit about him behind his back to Tony to try and get a match. I did everything I said I'd never do just for the opportunity," Eddie said.

My heart sank as I listened to him talk. This match had meant so much to him and to come out on the losing end must have hurt.

I waited until I didn't hear anyone talking. I lightly knocked on the door.

"Who is it?" Eddie asked.

"It's Harper," I said. "Can I come in?"

"Sure," Eddie said.

I walked in and gave Brandon a small smile.

"I'll leave you two to talk," Brandon said before leaving the room and closing the door behind him.

I pulled a chair up so I was sitting in front of him.

"I take it you heard all that," Eddie said.

"Yeah, I did," I said. "I know you're not happy with how tonight went, but I have no doubt that you'll be back in the world title picture soon."

"I just thought tonight would be the night," Eddie said.

"You know Jon, he's a tough son of a bitch," I said. "I'm just glad you made it out of that match without getting hurt."

"It shouldn't have gone down like this," Eddie said. "I'm sorry for how I went about getting this match."

"Hey, we've all done shit we're not proud of," I said.

"I know, it's just-" Eddie said.

"Listen to me, you are great at what you do. You've worked your ass off over the years and I know tonight didn't go how you wanted it to, but you'll get there," I said. "And what's this about you not having anything other than wrestling? You have friends and family that love you and-"

Before I could continue, Eddie cut me off with a kiss.

"I-I'm sorry. I got caught up-" Eddie said.

"Just shut up and kiss me again," I said.

Eddie happily obliged.

"It took you long enough to do that," I said.

"It's not my fault we're not left alone that often," Eddie said. "Jon's usually with us."

"So?" I asked.

"You really think he'd be okay with me making a move on his sister?" Eddie asked.

"He'd get over it," I said.

"Oh, I'm sure he would," Eddie said.

"He's gonna have to," I said. "Now, Jon and I are going out for drinks. You coming?"

"Absolutely," Eddie said.

We left the locker room hand in hand.
