Wardlow X Reader

~

I stood at the tunnel, waiting for my queue to go out. MJF and Wardlow were already out in the ring doing a promo. He was issuing an open challenge tonight and I was going to be the one to answer.

MJF finished talking and looked to the stage.

I walked out on the stage and listened to the crowd. I made my way to the ring and took the mic from Max.

"I accept," I said before tossing the mic out of the ring.

Wardlow gave me a quick smile before getting out of the ring. Bryce signaled for the bell.

Later...

Max was on his back and I was on the top rope. I was going for a frog splash, but Max rolled out of the way. I tried to land on my feet, but I felt my ankle roll and heard it crack.

I let out a small yell as I felt pain shoot up my leg. I fell to my knees. A moment later, Bryce was at my side.

"Are you okay?" Bryce asked.

"No, it's my ankle," I said. "I don't think I can keep going."

Bryce called for the bell, but that didn't stop Max.

I felt his foot on my back before falling face first to the mat. I rolled over to see Wardlow pushing Max away from me. He turned back to look at me, but didn't get a chance to say anything before Jon and Kingston came out to chase them off. While they did that, I slid over to the edge of the ring.

Doc Sampson came over and talked with me. He had a suspicion that my ankle was broken and suggested that I go to the nearby hospital to get it x-rayed.

"I'll drive," Jon said.

Eddie picked me up and carried me bridal style until we got to the car.

Luckily it wasn't a long drive to the nearest hospital.

After a couple of X-rays, the doctor determined that my ankle was only fractured. I would have to wear a boot for a few weeks, but the good thing was I would still be able to walk on it.

The following Wednesday...

"You know, you didn't have to come tonight," Jon said as we made our way to catering.

"Yes, I know, but I can still help out with backstage stuff," I said.

"Yeah if you can keep up," Jon said.

"Shut up," I said.

Jon made sure I got some food and found a seat before he went to the locker room to get ready for the night.

I ate and scrolled through my phone by myself until I saw Wardlow coming over to my table.

"Hey, (Y/N)," Wardlow said. "Mind if I sit?"

"Go for it," I said.

"How's your ankle?" Wardlow asked once he sat down.

"Thankfully, it's only fractured. I'll be out for a little bit, but nothing major," I said.

"I'm sorry Max didn't stop the match when you got hurt," Wardlow said.

"It's not your fault he's a jackass," I said. "He'll get what's coming to him soon enough."

"I still feel bad," Wardlow said. "You didn't deserve that."

I shrugged.

"It is what it is," I said as I got up. "Anyway, I should go. I have to talk with Tony about what the doctor said."

I slowly started to walk about.

"Hang on," Wardlow said as he caught up. "I have an idea."

He stopped in front of me and knelt down.

"What are you doing?" I asked.

"Get on my back," Wardlow said.

"Are you really offering to give me a piggy-back ride?" I asked.

"Only if you want," Wardlow said.

"Hell yeah," I said.

He hooked his arms under my legs and I put my arms loosely around his neck.

"Ready?" Wardlow asked.

"Let's go," I said.

Wardlow helped me get around the rest of the night and even offered to help until I was out of the boot.
