Flufftober Day 10: Campfire
~
Cash and Dax had invited me to Asheville for a bonfire night. It was the first one we'd had in a while. We used to have these nights all the time, but our travel schedules got hectic and we had to stop.
Now we were all back with the same company and had more free time.
We spent the first half of the evening having dinner. When it started getting darker Cash and Dax went outside to build the fire while I gathered up the stuff for s'mores.
I joined them outside once I had everything.
"Find everything?" Dax asked.
"Yep," I said as I took a seat next to Cash. "I'm so glad we got to do this tonight."
"Me too," Cash said. "It's been way too long."
"Do you guys care if I put on some music?" I asked.
"Go for it," Dax said.
The three of us made our s'mores and listened to some music. After a while, Dax started getting tired so he headed to bed.
"Are you heading in too?" Cash asked.
"I think I'll stay out here a little longer," I said. "I miss these nights and just want to enjoy it a little more."
"Mind if I stay out here with you?" Cash asked.
"Not at all," I said with a smile.
"You know, I've been meaning to talk to you," Cash said.
"About what?" I asked.
"Well, we've known each other for a while now," Cash said. "And I just...well I really enjoy hanging out with you and I like you. Like more than a friend."
"Cool," I said.
"That's...don't you have anything else to say?" Cash asked.
I shrugged.
He looked at me for a minute and I could tell he was thinking.
"You already knew, didn't you?" Cash asked.
"Dax may have let it slip," I said. "He didn't think you'd ever tell me."
"How long have you known?" Cash asked.
"I think like two or three weeks," I said. "I think that's part of why Dax wanted to do this tonight and why he went back in the house."
"Wow," Cash said. "That would have been nice to know."
"I wanted to see if you'd say anything," I said.
"I really wish you would have said something," Cash said.
"I would have if I didn't already like you," I said. "Oh yeah that reminds me."
I caught him off guard with a kiss.
It took him a moment to register what happened. Once he did, he pulled me close for another kiss.
