Flufftober Day 6: Vacation

Darby and I stood outside of the Stanley Hotel.

"This is your idea of a vacation?" Darby asked.

"Absolutely," I said.

"We're only like ten minutes from your house," Darby said.

"So? This is my favorite place and you let me pick where to go," I said. "Plus you haven't been here before. Let's go."

We picked up our overnight bags and headed inside.

I went to the front desk and got us checked in. Once I had the key I met back up with Darby.

He followed me up to room 217. I unlocked the door and we walked inside.

"Welcome to my favorite place to stay," I said.

"Cozy," Darby said. "So, what's the plan for the evening?"

"I figured I could show you around the hotel then we could get dinner, watch a movie, then probably go to bed," I said.

"Sounds like a plan," Darby said.

We spent over an hour wandering around the hotel. Darby was kind enough to listen to me ramble on about the place.

"I feel like you could work here with everything you know," Darby said.

"I actually did work here for a little while," I said. "I wasn't cleared to wrestle and I was going stir crazy so I came here."

"You fit in here," Darby said.

"I try," I said. "Anyway, do you want to head to the dining room? All this talking made me hungry."

"Lead the way," Darby said.

We had a lovely dinner before heading back to our room.

"Now, as per tradition, I brought The Shining for us to watch," I said as I pulled the DVD out of my bag.

I got everything set up and hit play before climbing into bed with Darby. The two of us cuddled up together under the blanket.

By the time the movie was over, I could feel my eyelids getting heavy. Darby got out of bed and turned everything off before joining me back in bed.

"I'm sorry if this wasn't the vacation you had in mind," I said.

"There's nothing to be sorry for," Darby said. "Today was perfect."
