"All outbound flights are now delayed."
A chorus of groans filled the air. The last thing anyone wanted was a delayed flight this close to the holidays. I walked over to the information desk.
"Excuse me I was wondering what the cause of all the delays is?" I asked the lady at the information desk.
"There are some bad snow storms coming in," she said.
"Any idea when flights will be cleared for take off?" I asked.
"Not at this time," she said.
I let out a sigh before returning to my stuff. I sat back down and put my headphones on to try and block out the annoyed crowd of people.
It wasn't long before I felt someone tapping on my shoulder. I looked over to see Rhea now sitting next to me.
"Oh, hey," I said as I took off my headphones.
"I wasn't expecting to see you here," Rhea said. "I thought you had an earlier flight."
"I did," I said. "Didn't you hear that all the flights are delayed?"
"You're kidding," Rhea said.
"I wish I was," I said. "I take it you just got here."
"Sadly," Rhea said. "I was so looking forward to getting home."
"Me too," I said. "Go figure when we finally get some time off we get stuck at the airport."
"That's just our luck," Rhea said.
"How bad was the weather when you got here?" I asked.
"It was just starting to snow. Why?" Rhea asked.
"Well they don't know how long the delays are going to be and I don't really feel like sitting in an airport all night," I said.
"So, what are you suggesting?" Rhea asked.
"That we reschedule our flights for tomorrow and go to a hotel," I said.
"Let's do it," Rhea said.
We called around to a few hotels until we found one that had an available room before talking to the lady at the information desk to get everything sorted with our flights. Once that was done we took an Uber to the hotel.
Once we were in our room we both laid down on the bed.
"Much better than an airport," Rhea said.
"Absolutely," I said. "Are you up for room service?"
"Sounds good to me," Rhea said.
We ordered food and started looking for something to watch on the TV.
Rhea answered the door while I continued to look for something to watch.
"The Santa Clause is on," I said. "I used to love this movie."
"Never seen it," Rhea said as she joined me back on the bed.
"Then that's what we're watching," I said.
By the time the movie was over we were sitting with our backs against the headboard. Rhea had her head resting on my shoulder and was half asleep.
I turned the TV off.
"What are you doing?" Rhea asked.
"I think it's time for bed," I said.
