I finished getting ready just in time for Christian to pick me up. He was taking me out to dinner to celebrate our one year as a couple.
When we got to the restaurant there wasn't anywhere to park out front so we had to park a few blocks away. As we walked, we passed a jewelry store. One of the necklaces in the display window caught my eye. The chain was gold and it had a simple diamond pendant.
"Which one are you looking at?" Christian asked.
"The diamond one," I said, pointing to it.
"If you like it, why not go in and get it?" Christian asked.
"It's pretty but I don't need it," I said. "We should probably get to dinner."
We continued walking until we got to the restaurant but before we went in, Christian stopped.
"I think I left my phone in the car," Christian said. "I'll go grab it if you want to go in."
"Yeah sure," I said before going inside.
Soon Christian was joining me at our table.
"Find your phone?" I asked.
"Oh, I already had it," Christian said as he sat down.
Before I could say anything he slid a velvet jewelry box toward me. I raised an eyebrow at him.
"Open it," Christian said.
Sure enough it was the diamond necklace.
"You didn't have to get me this," I said.
"I wanted to," Christian said. "You deserve it."
"Thank you so much," I said. "I love it and I love you."
"I love you too," Christian said.
