Flufftober Day 5: Carnival

I was hanging out in my hotel room. It was nice having a day off between Dynamite and Rampage, but most of the time it left me at a loss for what to do.

There was a knock at the door.

I got up and looked through the peephole. Skylar was standing there.

When I opened the door, I saw the rest of The Elite were with her.

"What's up?" I asked.

"We're going to a carnival up the road if you wanna come," Skylar said.

"Yeah sure," I said.

I grabbed my purse from my room before heading out with the group.

There seemed to be a bit of tension on the way to the carnival. I usually didn't hang around with The Elite, but they were making an exception since I was friends with Skylar.

When we all got to the carnival, everyone wanted to do different things so we all split up. It didn't take long for Kenny and I to end up at the same game that had Pokemon as prizes.

The game quickly turned into a bit of competition. Kenny was the one that won.

"Damnit," I said.

"I take it you're a Pokemon fan?" Kenny asked.

"Obviously," I said.

"Which is your favorite?" Kenny asked.

"Chimchar," I said.

That was the prize he picked. Once he had it, he handed it to me.

"Really?" I asked.

"Really," Kenny said.

I took the plush from him.

"Thanks," I said.

"So, why Chimchar?" Kenny asked as we started to wander off.

"Pearl was the first Pokemon game I ever played," I said. "Chimchar was my first starter."

"You know, it's still strange to me that you're a gamer," Kenny said.

"Why is it strange?" I asked.

"It just doesn't line up with how you carry yourself in the ring," Kenny said.

"My whole ring get up is based off of video games," I said.

"Wait, really?" Kenny asked.

"Wow, you really don't pay attention," I said. "My ring persona is based on Borderlands."

Kenny seemed dumbfounded.

"I go by Moxxi in the ring. My music says 'if you find good loot then get ready to shoot cause in the Borderlands you have no friends,'" I said. "I'm surprised you never noticed."

"Usually I can't hear the TV because of the Bucks," Kenny said.

"You've been in the ring when I've come out," I said. "We've had matches together."

"Then I'm usually distracted by other things," Kenny said.

"Like what?" I questioned.

"Well, I...uh...do you want some cotton candy?" Kenny asked, changing the subject.

He walked over to the cotton candy booth. I couldn't help but laugh. This was the first time I had ever seen Kenny flustered like this.

When he came back he handed me a thing of cotton candy.

"I hope you like the blue kind," Kenny said.

"It's my favorite actually," I said.

We ate the cotton candy and continued to talk while we walked around. The day was coming to an end and we would have to leave soon, but Kenny agreed to go on one ride with me.

The two of us were some of the last few to get on the ferris wheel. We were quiet as the ride started.

"So, earlier, you said you were often distracted when I came to the ring," I said.

"Now, I see why you wanted to get on the ferris wheel," Kenny said.

"You can't avoid the question now," I said.

Again he was quiet.

"If it makes it easier, I get distracted by you too," I said.

"You don't act like it," Kenny said.

"We're supposed to hate each other in the ring," I said. "But out of the ring, what can I say, you've grown on me."

"Really?" Kenny asked.

"Yeah," I said. "I guess what I'm trying to say is I like you."

"I like you too," Kenny said.

He glanced at my lips.

"Can I-"

"Yes," I said, cutting him off.

The two of us shared a kiss at the top of the ferris wheel.
