The four corners of the car were filled with the deafening silence. The silence that makes me feel more tense and nervous.
Tres brought back the car's engine to life. His face is calm as he started driving. I thought he's not worried but I'm wrong.
I saw how his lips quivered even if it's not cold. I saw how he strummed his fingers on the steering wheel and I saw a glimpse of his troubled face which he immediately changed when I'm glancing at him.
It's about his work in the BOC for almost six years. He build his career for a long time and now, what will happen? Mawawala na lang iyong bigla? I can't attain seeing him so vulnerable because of losing his job.
Now, he's already wearing his uniform. On his top is a black three-fourths polo sleeve which has an embroidered word on the left side of his chest. On each side of his shoulders are epaulettes with three gold lines and their logo.
Tres was also wearing a black cap which also has an embroidered yellow CUSTOMS and below it are the words PROTECTING THE BORDERS. His top was also tucked in with his black slacks which has a belt in it.
He look so superior and the way he maneuvered the car screams power. His seriousness is new to me, it's different but the same.
I don't know what urged me to do it but I reached for his right hand and I felt how it trembles. He looked at me with his brown eyes pooling with tears. Seeing him hurting, hurts me big time.
I heaved a sigh and move my thumb in circles on his palm. "Face it and remain brave. Know that I'm always here for you, hindi kita iiwan kahit ano pa mang mangyari. Walang maiiwan dito."
Tres grasped my hand and intertwined it with his.
I looked at him, tears are running down my cheeks.
