Valentine
Yesterday was a less than ideal day.
And in that sense I mean bloom, yet again, screwing things up.
Boston is a big city and Massachusetts is a big state. This new doctor could be anywhere, even right under our noses....
So, naturally, there's some tension and unease. If blooms choice is anything like the candidates he gave us .. there's no chance this is good.
That morning, Ethan and I lay in our bed, the sun beaming through the window as I lay with my head on his chest as he played with my hair.
"...I don't think the decision was truly ours. If we connect the dots for a moment, bloom has wanted the best at Edenbrook from day one. He would have read those files... knowing damn well what we'd say." Ethan said
"And put doctor Aquino's in there to throw us off, huh?"
"Exactly. Just like the check was never our decision.... neither was this. And I can't believe I was so blind to not see it." He sighed
I nestled my cheek against him before placing a kiss and saying "but doctor Ramsey we didn't know... hindsight is great, but we didn't want to think he'd stoop so low."
He sighed again before leaning back and holding me close "I know. But I think from now on we need to expect the worst."
"You know I'm all up for optimism...but yeah, I agree..."
"...V?"
"Yes honey?"
"... thank you. For Standing by me. I feel like I'm doing something right."
"Of course... I'd tell you if you were doing wrong and you're not. You're doing your best...we all are..."
"Minus bloom and the board right?"
I laughed and said "of course. Today is... you know, another battle to win the war. Just one we have to lose this time. And that's okay..."
He moved a little and said "is it?"
I looked up to him where he was looking down to me and said "yes...yes it is."
He closed his eyes and I kissed his nose before getting up
