Valentine
Sitting on the kitchen island back at home on an early July morning was the kind of solace that i will always favour and adore.
everything from the sun, the calm feeling, and not needing to be on alert every hour of the day, and enjoying the company of someone you love, is truly unmatched....and, while ordinarily, In recent times that is- i would find myself at the apartment with the roomates, without ethan. being chief takes a lot of time, a lot of observation and attendance...many more hours than myself as a third year resident...
but today?
Today is so very different.
I laughed from where i was in front of him, while he was cutting fruit on the chopping board and i said "you are such a show off!"
"As i mentioned before, my knowledge of other languages are very very limited. knowing a few words here and there however, can look a little impressive."
"how i feel with Latin." i smiled
he raised a brown with his own smile and held up a strawberry as he said "now while you would call it a strawberry or...?"
"fragaria...its one of my favourite latin words."
"the french are more simplistic, are you ready?"
i nodded and he said "Fraise."
"...fraise?" i raised a brow
he smiled and said "you got it."
i giggled as he handed it to me and kissed my cheek before resuming the cutting board, and i took the leaves off the stem .
"i always had the intention of trying to learn it again, especially when France is one of those countries that i have always wanted to travel too. but there's google translate now so i suppose it will suffice."
he laughed and looked up to me "Valerie, you do know goggle translate is very unreliable?"
"....it is?"
he nodded and said "lets just say i wouldn't recommend using it in official circumstances."
"good. ill just tell the truth. i cant speak the language."
"honesty is the best policy." he raised a brow
"was that an proverb"? i smiled
"...of sorts, but as a doctor i feel enforcing that sometimes is a good idea." he chuckled
