The last few days at Edenbrook have been busier than usual.
And I believe that after all the Mayhem and disruption, things are finally starting to become normal again...
I see Bloom now and again, and every time I do , I can almost feel his fury and despise that he lost after all his efforts...and all I can think is that we haven't really heard the last of him.
As for settling into the role of chief, it feels...normal now. I get to keep the hospital on track, keep an eye on the diagnostics team and more importantly I can keep an eye on Valerie.
Our schedules don't always align, and it gets harder when she spends 3 days of the week with her roommates, but we always make time for each other
After a long day, V sat opposite me at the desk in my office, debriefing about her day and how she's been...and I've missed this so much.
She smiled and said "and I done the trach all by myself again! I think I really am getting better at it."
I smiled in return and I said "excellent Valerie. That's what I like to hear. I was very impressed with the one you preformed and Milla Stevens a couple of weeks Ago. You should be very proud of yourself."
Laughing she said "in that case I am."
"Good." I took her hand from across the table
She smiled and said "I've missed you so much Amica Mea..."
"I've missed you too. Is...is it okay though? Is there something I can do to-"
She shook her head and laces her hand with mine. "It's the job, right? So we just get through. Tomorrow we have a whole day off together...I couldn't be any more excitied. Wedding planning, lazy day just at home together..."
I smiled and she continued to say "our little bits of time apart make the days we do spend together even more precious. And with every passing day we move closer to us getting a place together. And getting married..."
"Mmm those are some fantastic perks..."
She laughed as she stood up and came over, sitting on my lap and saying "Want to know some more perks with more... immediate effects?"
