Three hours into the party and we were all either drunk or incredibly tired,I don't know who's idea it was to start this so early into the night but it was dumb.
There was only an hour left till the big countdown,and our big announcement.
Everyone was curled up on the sofas and beanbags around the TV.Watching Modern Family,nothing better than laughing with your friends.
Payton was asleep besides me,cuddling me as I play with his hair.There was only a few of us awake still but we still had a whispering conversation.
"Do you think,as we get older we'll run out of things to talk about?" Stella asks twirling a strand of her curly hair.
"No" Eli answers straight away,"Our lives are constantly changing so with that comes new things to talk about"
"Yeah,like jobs" I add
"Ew jobs" Lara scoffs,"What if the whole of social media crashes and we're forced to go into real working jobs.What would you guys do?"
"I'd be.." I start taking a moment to think,"I'd be a teacher probably"
"I'd be a designer" Stella says
"An engineer" Eli says confidently
"Normal life seems boring,I'd start an only fans.Nothing scandalous,but like bikini picture's and that" Lara says staring at the chipped nails on her hands.
Eli shoots her a disapproving look,almost as if to say she better not resort to only fans as a means of living.
"what" Lara scoffs,"im not posing naked ,its either that or I become a stripper,which one would you want?"
"neither" Alex buts in
"brothers am I right" Emmy rolls her eyes,as if she could relate to Lara.
I'd been playing around with my ring,everyone was asleep so on occasion I'd slip the ring onto my finger and gaze at it in the light.
I'm going to be a married woman.
"I see you doing an only fans" Emmy chimes in from where she's halfway passed out on the sofa.
It breaks me out of my trance slipping my hand away,crossing my arms and leaning forward to conceal the ring.
"Ew gross,that's my sister" Alex scoffs
I giggle slowly getting up to make sure Payton stays asleep.
"I'm gonna get a hot chocolate,Oh and I'm going to steal some fluffy socks from my mom.Do you guys want anything?" I ask
Everyone shakes their head no,so I go on my way grabbing a drink of water and heading to my moms room to get some of her socks,trading them in for my heels.
"Ah,sweet goodness" I sigh as I slip the socks on heading our to join the party.
"Abi!" I hear.
Turning round I barely get a glance as I'm dragged into the cupboard with the water heater.
"What the f-"
"Abi-" A hand reaches behind me to switch on the light revealing Alex's weird face.
"You're engaged" he hisses,accusingly pointing a finger at me
"Shut it" I immediately grab his finger pushing it down
"Alex,shut up.No one needs to know,at least not until me and Payton announce it,at midnight."
"I see,and what are you going to give me to keep this secret ?"
"Nothing,you keep shut or I get Emmy to scare your new girlfriend away"
He huffs,"Fine"
"Glad we're agreed" I smile at him sweetly opening the closet door, walking off to join the rest of the party.
"Thats sus" Eli jokes
"Shut up my boyfriends right there asshole" I hiss
"hasn't stopped him before" Lara cackles brining up past memories
I shoot her a glare and she immediately shuts up.

"Payton,...Payton wake up...it's nearly midnight"
"wh...what" he grumbles in his sleepy voice,squinting as he opens his eyes
"We have two minutes until we can announce our engagement" I whisper to him,"my parents are on their way up"
"can I propose again?" he asks
"why?"
"I want the chance to do it properly"
I smile down at him placing a small kiss on his temple before getting up and taking his hand in mine to direct us both to the kitchen where wine glasses were waiting.
We all took a glass each eagerly waiting for the countdown,mom and dad rushed in with their own drinks giggling with eachother.Quickly I shuffle over to where they're standing, Emmy following.
"I'm happy I'm with you guys for the new year" She says cuddling into my moms side
"I don't want to go back" I sigh,resting my head on my dads shoulder
"Are you guys ready?" Lara squeals
We all begin the countdown, "5......4.........3.......2.........1....HAPPY NEW YEAR"
Payton turns me towards me placing a soft kiss against my lips,his hand falls down my pocket to grab the ring.
And on one knee he stares up into my eyes,with a loving look.My heart exploding into a million pieces,nothing makes me more happier than him.And this moment was more than perfect.
"What!" Emmy screams as of she was the one being proposed to,all attention is on us now as Payton asks thw question.
"Abigail Edwards,will you marry me?"
I nod my head yes,slipping on the ring and hugging him as tightly as I could.I'm officialy engaged.
