Ness woke up again about an hour later, and I contemplated whether I should just leave him to calm himself or take care of him until he was fine. I decided I'd calm him down, but it was about time to get up anyway.
After he had finally calmed down a bit, I went to the bathroom and brushed my teeth and hair, trying to get ready to start the day. I apparently woke up Bobby as I walked through the room, but I think he was already awake and was waiting for me to come in.
Bobby had decided that he would make breakfast today, but no one really felt like cooking, so he made us a great meal of cereal.
He set our bowls down on the table and pulled me closer to give me a kiss after I'd put Ness in his bouncer.
"I finally get my first kiss of the day," he said quietly before we both sat down to eat.
I ignored his comment, starting conversation as I normally would. Normal for today, that is.
"Why do you feel like being so helpful today?"
"I always feel like being helpful, but today I feel a little guilty," he answered, his hand grabbing mine under the table.
"And why is that?"
"Because you were so angry with me last night," he said under his breath.
"Maybe I should get angry more often," I said and pulled my hand away to grab Ness. He was already getting fussy in his bouncer, and I didn't know what I was going to do with him today.
"Please don't," he replied as I sat Ness on my lap, as much as I could with my bump.
"I guess I better save up my angry moments, never know who I have to use it on," I answered and glanced at Ness before putting my eyes back on Bobby.
"By the way," I started, "this fine cuisine is very good. So glad I didn't waste my time making it."
He said something back sarcastically, but I was too busy noticing that his hand was bumping random parts of my leg and the leg of the table trying to find my hand again.
"Sorry, both hands are busy right now," I said.
"What a shame," he replied, "Now what are my hands supposed to do?"
"I don't know," I said quietly, hoping he wasn't hinting that he was going to do anything rated R since I had Ness in my lap.
There wasn't any time for him to do anything with his hands, though, because Lucas came tromping up the stairs with a blanket from his bed and rubbing his eyes.
"Hey, little guy, how'd you sleep?" I asked as Bobby got up to bring him to the kitchen and make his breakfast.
As usual, Lucas answered, "Good." in his sleepy morning voice.
I continued feeding Ness and myself as Bobby got Lucas some cereal, which was an adventure in itself. Normally, he chooses the cereal that he didn't have last time. But today he couldn't remember what he had last time. There was a minute where I thought there would surely be a meltdown, but somehow he got it figured out and Bobby made him a bowl of cereal.
We all sat at the table talking until Lucas was done. Then I had to figure out what we were going to do today.
"What do you want to do today, Lucas?" I asked as I picked up his bowl and put all of our breakfast dishes in the dishwasher.
"Something fun," he answered.
I looked at Bobby, who was sitting at the table with Ness, bouncing him up and down in hopes that he wouldn't get fussy again.
