As I woke up, an uneasy feeling settled in my stomach. It was nothing big, just a feeling like something wasn't right.

I looked at the alarm clock. Barely seven o'clock. Why did my body feel the need to wake up at this hour when I could so easily sleep in?

I laid there for a while, trying to get back to sleep. After ten minutes, though, I couldn't ignore the feeling in my stomach.

I tried to wiggle out of Bobby's arms, but I knew that'd never work. I finally poked him softly and he was half awake.

"I have to pee, Bobby," I said softly.

"Mmm hmm," he mumbled, loosening his arms. I pulled them apart and got out of bed.

I went to the bathroom first. It was true that I had to pee. Plus he could've been listening to make sure I wasn't lying. Then I made my way over to Zelda's bassinet. She was sleeping soundly, and I wondered why she could do that so easily once I was awake but the minute I fell asleep she decided to cry every two or three hours.

I then quietly went through the hallway and to Ness's room. He was also sleeping soundly in his crib.

That left Lucas.

I went down the stairs as quietly as possible. When I finally made it to the basement, I walked through the wide open door and saw Lucas asleep as well.

I went back upstairs, making coffee and sitting on the couch. I got my laptop out and went on social media for a while.

The feeling in my stomach hadn't left yet, but I didn't know what else to do. I knew all the kids were fine and Bobby was good, and there wasn't anything out of order in the house.

I ignored it, staying on my laptop and sipping coffee. I checked YouTube, realizing I needed to get my video of Zelda's introduction made soon. I looked at recent comments and watched videos, new and old, made by people I found entertaining even as a teenager.

It wasn't until about an hour later that Zelda started crying. I closed the YouTube tab and rushed to our room, wondering if Bobby was awake now too.

When I got in there, Bobby was standing next to her bassinet. I came up behind him as he reached out to pick her up and I put my arms around the middle of his torso.

"Hey you," I said.

He picked up the crying baby and started swaying slightly.

"Hey," he said groggily. "Look who decided to show up."

"What do you mean?" I asked, pulling away from him as he turned to bring Zelda to the living room. I followed them out.

"You had to pee and then you never came back. I mean how bad did you need to pee?" he asked.

"I'm sorry," I said, looking up at him. "I wanted you to get some sleep. And I have this weird feeling that something isn't right."

He sighed, and I didn't see him roll his eyes, but I had a feeling he did. "You're still paranoid and worrying about Sarah because of that?" he asked.

I reached out for him to hand me Zelda, but he continued walking with her to the kitchen.

Her crying had gone down in volume, but she still was crying. I poured the milk we still had saved into a bottle before putting it in the microwave.

"That's what it is!" I said. "I haven't called her yet. Oh my gosh, Bobby. What if she really isn't OK?"

"She's fine," he assured me. He took the bottle out of the microwave and started feeding Zelda.

Her crying immediately stopped.

I ran to our room and grabbed my phone. I found Sarah's contact and hit call, walking out to the living room.

It went straight to voicemail just like last night. The second time last night. I tried again, but nothing had changed.

"Bobby," I said nervously.

"Hm?"

"I think she's in trouble. I think we need to tell someone," I said.

"Baby-"

"No. Better safe than sorry, right? You talked me out of it last night, but today I need to make sure."

"How are you gonna do that?" he asked.

"We know people that live in New Jersey," I replied. "We'll have them go to her house, see if anything's out of the ordinary."

He sighed. "If it'll help you sleep at night, go ahead."

I smiled at him and got everything figured out. Bobby's sister, Maria, would head over there as soon as she got the chance. She said one at the latest, which meant ten o'clock here.

"Did you burp her?" I asked Bobby as he put her bottle in the dishwasher.

"No," he said. "Not yet. Why? Do you want to?"

I smiled at him. "Yeeeeees."

I started patting her back while rocking back and forth.

"I think you're a little obsessed," Bobby said as he met me back in the living room.

"Is that a bad thing?" I asked.

He didn't have time to answer, though. Ness started yelling random things from his crib. I couldn't understand half of them, but I did hear "warm" and "cereal" and "waffles."

"I got him," Bobby said.

"Thank you," I called as he walked to Ness's room.

My phone rang at about 9:30. I checked it for a moment before I saw "Maria" and immediately picked it up.

"Hello?" I said, leaving Ness half naked below me.

"Uh, hi. Christina, I went to Sarah's house," she said.

"Is she OK?" I asked.

"Don't freak out... but I don't think so," she replied.

"What happened? What'd you see?" I asked eagerly.

"Well, I knocked on the door and no one answered. So I tried opening it and it turns out it was unlocked. I called her name a few times, but she never answered. I went to the garage and her car was there. I started looking more intently around her house and it didn't seem like she decided to leave. It looked like she was just kinda... gone. And I know she couldn't have disappeared or anything, but...." her voice trailed off.

"Did you see anything unusual?" I asked.

"Well, everything seemed to be clean or at least neat except for her room. That doesn't necessarily mean anything, but I thought it was kinda weird. Although she could've been getting to it, like, later in the week or something."

"I have to go," I said.

"Do you think everything's fine?" she asked.

I sighed. "Everything's just so weird. This isn't like Sarah at all. And I think I know her better than anyone else. But at the same time everything seems like it isn't that odd. Other than the fact that her car is there. She has to drive to work, and I don't know where she would've walked that you wouldn't have seen her either as she left or as she came back."

"Do you think everything's fine?" Maria repeated.

I paused. Do I tell her the truth? I should. It's difficult to admit though. What if it worries her?

I decided the truth was the best option.

"No."
