"Bobby," I said nervously as he made his way to the living room, "Please tell me this isn't true."
The news was on, surprisingly enough. And there was a horrifying story on right now. Maybe it was only horrifying for me, though.
"Many inmates at Gowanda Correctional Facility in New York have been reported missing as of this morning. The most famous and most recent criminal put in the facility has been reported missing, Mr. Sean Murphy. He is most known for the recent kidnapping of pop singer Christina Grimmie, and the rape and murder of Rachel Ryan along with many other women over the past five years. Police are on the lookout all over the states of California and Nevada for Mr. Murphy and the other four missing inmates."
Bobby put his arm around me, pulling my body close to his.
"If it is true, we'll be fine."
I moved my head, which was resting on his chest, to look up at him.
"You don't know that."
"I know that," he said, and he seemed sure of himself.
"How do you know that?" I asked.
"We have security guards at every entrance to our house. We can get some to follow us wherever we go. We just won't go out alone until this is all cleared up," he said.
I sighed. "What about the kids? They're easy targets. He'll take them, Bobby. He will."
"What did I say, honey? We'll keep our guard up - no pun intended - until this is all over and he's back in a facility. The kids will be fine."
I didn't say anything, not convinced with how sure he was.
"It'll all be fine," he assured me, kissing the top of my head.

"Mama, can we go get ice cream?" Lucas asked after supper in a whisper.
Obviously his whisper wasn't soft enough because Ness immediately started repeating him.
"Eyes cweam! Eyes cweam! Eyes cweam!"
I looked at Bobby and he smiled at me. He moved his arms in a way that meant, Whatever you want.
I sighed. "If you guys can pick up five toys each and put them away we can go for ice cream."
Lucas rushed into the living room and Ness started kicking his legs impatiently. I got him out of his chair and set him on the floor only for him to fall on his butt. He stood up as if nothing had happened and ran as best he could to the living room.
I got up from the table and began putting our dishes away. Bobby helped clean off the table, and the boys were soon in the kitchen begging to go.
"Mommy and Daddy need to finish cleaning up the table and then we need to get Zelda. Then we can go," I said, setting our silverware in the dishwasher.
Lucas opened his mouth, about to throw a tantrum, but stopped himself. Ness, sadly, wasn't as old as Lucas and began to cry.
"Ness," I said calmly.
He ignored me, crying as loud as he possibly could until we were done cleaning up.
I picked him up and walked him to our bedroom.
"Honey, we're gonna go for ice cream right now. I just have to get Zelda," I said.
He looked at me for a moment, his wailing stopping. "Now?"
"Right now," I said. "Go get Daddy. He'll put your shoes on."
I set him down and he walked out of the room, repeating the word "now" as he walked.
