I picked up a crying Zelda and tried not to fall over as I wore heels for the first time in months.

"C'mon, honey," I said softly. "Let's be good for Grandma and Grandpa."

She continued crying as I walked into the living room.

"Bobby," I called.

"Yes?" he called back, walking out of Ness's room with Lucas standing next to him and Ness coming up behind them.

"I don't know if tonight's the night," I said. "This is chaos. Our house is a mess. The kids are upset."

Bobby came up to me, ignoring the crying baby in my arms.

He leaned down to kiss me, but I pulled away.

"Tonight will be perfect. The kids will calm down, no one's gonna see our house, and we're already dressed. Plus we have reservations," he said.

I sighed, rocking Zelda. As soon as Bobby leaned down to kiss me again, Ness started crying just as bad as Zelda. I pulled away slightly but he quickly pecked me on the lips and we turned to the doorway of Ness's room where he was sitting on the floor, crying.

Bobby ran over to them, and I followed close behind with Zelda in my arms.

"What happened?" he asked.

Between loud cries, Ness said, "Oo-cas... push... me!"

"Lucas, did you push Ness down?" I asked.

"No, he fell down," Lucas said.

I had a hunch that he was lying.

I sighed. Bobby picked up Ness and tried to calm him down, and then we had two crying children and one following close behind us, trying to explain that Ness "just fell down."

Within a half hour, Zelda had calmed down after having a bottle of milk. Ness had calmed down a little after Lucas was forced into apologizing.

"OK, guys, let's get going. Grandma and Grandpa are waiting," I said.

I sighed as we packed up the diaper bag and a duffel bag full of clothes. We strapped in each kid and were soon enough on our way.

"I know today was a little crazy," Bobby said after we'd dropped off the kids. "But you still look absolutely flawless tonight, my dear."

I blushed and looked down.

"Thank you," I said. "You look pretty nice yourself."

"So, you excited for tonight?" he asked, grabbing my hand.

"Well, I'm wearing a dress and heels, so I'm hoping it's worth something."

"I'm sorry everything was so chaotic earlier," he said.

"It's not like you could help it," I replied.

"Well, if it helps any, we can take our mind off of the chaos our children cause for a few hours now," he said.

I nodded.

The rest of the ride was spent with only the radio for noise. Then we'd arrived.

The valet took our car, and Bobby led me in to the fancy restaurant we'd made reservations at.

As we made it to our table, he whispered in my ear, "Do you like it?"

"I love it," I replied with a smile.
