After finally getting Bobby to pick up the boys, we stopped at a park on the way home. It was a beautiful day out, and the boys always wanted to go to parks.
It'd gotten to the point where parents didn't come up to me at the park for an autograph. They knew coming up to me would just draw more attention and that's what caused us to not go out in public very much.
Nothing stopped the paparazzi, though, and our poor kids had to deal with people taking pictures of them and us anywhere we went. They didn't seem to care, though. Too busy in their own worlds and too busy playing at the park.
At this time, Ness was the one who needed to be watched the most. Lucas might get into something with another child, but Ness would get into something with objects. For instance, choking on rocks, or falling down steps. I wasn't so open to the idea of letting them get hurt.
Bobby said I was overprotective at times, but I think I was just being a good mom.
I sat on a bench with a good view of most of the park. It also seemed to be the easiest spot to see the stairs from. Bobby sat next to me and put his arm around me. He leaned in to kiss me, but I moved my head at the last second.
It wasn't so he couldn't kiss me and it wasn't because I knew there'd be a picture in a magazine within two days, but it was because I heard the screaming of, "Mom!" from across the park. It's amazing at parks. You'd think it'd be easy to tell your child's call compared to another's, but everyone's so paranoid that their kid is going to get hurt that when one screams, "Mom!" every mother turns her head.
Luckily, it was some boy trying to show his mom how high his swing was going. Not Ness hurt or Lucas in some argument with another boy.
"Overprotective," I heard Bobby say quietly behind me.
I turned to him. "Every other mother at this place turned her head at the same time, so by that logic I guess we're all overprotective. Or maybe we're all just better parents than the dads that were too occupied trying to kiss them," I answered smartly.
"Whatever you say, my dear," he said as if he didn't believe me.
I turned back to him and pecked him on the lips before turning my attention back to the park.
"We're announcing the album next week," I said under my breath, trying to carry on with a conversation we'd normally have at night in our bed except we were in public.
"That's good, right?" he asked.
"Yeah, except I'm five months pregnant with two sons and recently got security guards and we're adding on to our house and I haven't been on social media since - technically - last year. There's so much changing, I don't know how they're gonna take it," I answered.
"Hey, if you announce a new album, they're gonna be happy no matter what other news comes with it," he said and squeezed my hand.
"I guess," I said with a sigh and leaned back on him.
After about an hour, we decided it was about time to bring them home. Although Ness was throwing a fit and Lucas was just starting to "make a friend," we left without making too much of a scene. That's what the paparazzi want about as much as a sex tape or nudes from me, to see me getting angry with my kids.
Bobby got in first, and I got into the passenger seat, and we left like a normal family. After ten minutes of Ness crying and Lucas begging for ice cream only to be declined, it was finally quiet in our vehicle. And that's when Bobby decided to place his hand on my knee, his fingers just grazing underneath my knee. I looked over at him, only to see him glance at me before smirking slightly and turning his attention back to the road.
