Two days later, in the middle of the afternoon, when the boys were starting to get to me, my phone rang.

I practically ran to grab it, not hesitating to answer when I saw the "B" in the name of who it was.

"Hey," I answered.

"Hey," he said. "So, how's it going there?"

"It's chaos without you," I said. "I had two interviews yesterday, and I felt bad leaving them with my parents, but I didn't have much of a choice. Mark was over there, so I felt a little bit better, but it still sucked. They're both antsy and I think it's because you've been gone for so long."

"Well, I was ca-"

"Crap, give me a second. There's a meltdown happening," I interrupted.

Ness was crying and Lucas was standing next to him, completely fine. That gave away enough that I knew that Lucas had physically done something to Ness, but unless he told me, I wouldn't know because Ness still hasn't talked.

Eventually, I found Lucas had pinched Ness because Ness wasn't playing nicely. Well, that's what I got out of Lucas.

"Sorry," I said into the phone. "You still there?"

"Yeah," Bobby said. "It's crazy, I never thought I could miss handling that, but I do."

"I wish I did," I replied.

"Anyway, as I was saying, I was calling because my dad's getting out of the hospital tonight. He's fine, just has some daily meds to take. So, I'm coming home tomorrow."

"Really?"

"Yep," he said.

I didn't hop up and down and cheer, but I wanted to. "That's great! We all can't wait to see you."

"Okay, I'll see you tomorrow," he said.

"Miss you. Love you."

"Miss you too. Love you too," he said.

"Bye."

"Bye."

"Was that Daddy?" Lucas asked.

"Yep," I said.

"Why couldn't I talk to him?" he whined, and I knew tears were on the way.

"He had to go. He said he'd Skype us later tonight, okay? You can talk to him later."

"I wanna talk to him now," he said and started crying.

I considered calling him back, but I felt it wasn't worth it. Lucas would probably be over it in a matter of minutes, plus he probably didn't actually have much to say to him.

I was incorrect in thinking it would be over in a few minutes. Lucas cried for ten minutes before I tried calling Bobby again and he didn't answer.

"He isn't answering," I said calmly.

Lucas continued crying and whining.

"Lucas, honey, listen to me."

He didn't stop.

"Lucas," I said. "Lucas." I repeated it over and over again.

"Lucas, Daddy can't talk right now. He's busy. We can talk to him later, I promise," I said.

He slowly stopped wailing and that turned into hiccups. I think he was tired and just missed his dad too much. He hadn't seen Bobby in the longest time it'd ever been for him, and Lucas couldn't handle it.

"Can I talk to Daddy later?"

"Yes. I promise," I said.

"K," he mumbled.
