I dialed my mom's number, ready to tell the first person the big news.

"Hey, Mom," I said.

"Christina, hi!" she replied excitedly.

"We had a baby yesterday," I said.

"I heard something like that," she replied. She was holding back from interrogating me.

"It was a girl," I said.

Mom erupted in a bunch of noises. I heard her talking to who I assumed was Dad, and I heard clapping or something. Overall, it was a muffled bunch of excited noises.

"Her name is Zelda Victoria," I said, "And she's two months early, so her lungs aren't completely developed."

"What does that mean?"

"Two months in the hospital," I answered. "But at least she's here, and she's OK. I held her once, but I wasn't conscious. But she's so beautiful. And she's so," my voice cracked, "I don't know. I'm gonna start crying."

My mom laughed on the other end.

"When do I get to meet her?"

"When do you want to bring the boys?" I asked.

"Well, we'll come anytime."

"Visiting hours end at 7:30 for the preemies, so just long enough that you have time with her before you leave," I said.

"You can expect us in an hour and a half, two hours," Mom said.

"OK," I said. "Before you go, how are the boys doing?"

"They're great. They miss you guys, but they're behaving well."

"Good." I smiled. "OK, I'll see you in a little bit. Love you! Bye!"

"Love you too, buh-bye," she said.

I ended the call and went to my messages, sending out the picture of Zelda to my closest friends and family and telling them her name and what's happening because she's premature.

Then I headed on to social media, ignoring all the replies I was getting.

I posted the photo of Zelda that I took this morning, adding "we have a new member of the family" as the caption. I didn't want to go into too much detail on her just yet, so everyone was asking for her name or guessing it. Not surprisingly, a lot of people guessed it.

"How's everyone taking it?" Bobby asked, placing his hand on my knee through the covers on the hospital bed.

"Same as always," I replied.

He nodded.

"I wanna see her again," I said. It had only been about an hour since we visited her, but I never wanted to leave her.

"When are your parents coming?"

"An hour and a half to two hours," I answered.

"Can you wait that long?"

"I'd rather not," I said.

"Christina, you need to eat and stuff. I know you're excited about Zelda. I mean, I am too. But, honey, you can't be overly obsessive about seeing her."

"Why not?" I asked. "I'm her mother. It's basically my job."

He laughed. "She can't have you all the time. Sometimes I want you to myself."

I smiled. "You don't act so possessive until I want to do something that takes me away from you."

He reached for my hand, and I nonchalantly moved it away. Sometimes it was fun to tease him a little.
