Gayoung had just left her last class when she saw the news.
[Breaking News] Co-stars Choi Byungchan and Lee Chaewon confirmed to be dating
Immediately, her mind went back to their conversation in the garden.
"You'll find out tomorrow. Now I'm being forced to act even when I'm not on set."
Was this what he meant?
Her heart dropped. Was he being forced to date his co-star? For what? Publicity?
She started running, having no idea where she was going, but just knowing one thing. She had to find him. Was he okay? Probably not. She didn't know him for that long but she could tell one thing... publicity was hard on him. He seemed happy and bubbly, but the constrictions made him sad.
This? He must be devastated.
She ran into Subin by pure luck, and she was sure the look on his face mirrored hers. Worry. He was on the phone, presumably with Byungchan, or maybe one of their other friends. He grabbed her arm and they ran together.
They found him in an empty classroom. The lights were off, the door was locked, but somehow Subin knew that he was in there. He stopped and banged at the door. Gayoung was in the middle of trying to convince him to leave because she was sure that Byungchan wasn't in there when the door opened, revealing Byungchan himself.
Byungchan grabbed their hands and pulled them into the classroom, locking the door behind them. His face was streaked with tears, and he led them to a corner of the room where they couldn't be seen by the window on the door.
Then he reached forward, wrapping his arms around her and Subin.
They held him until his tears subsided.
