"You alright?" Chan asked, still holding onto Gayoung's hand as he led them to the hot chocolate stand.
"I'm okay," she assured him, trying to ignore the feeling of her hand being tucked in his.
"Will you feel better if I buy you hot chocolate?" he asked, his worried eyes flickering over to her.
"I feel fine," she insisted, laughing. "But I will never say no to hot chocolate!"
He laughed too, not letting you of her hand as they walked up to the counter. He didn't let go when he ordered. He did, unfortunately, when he had to pay. But her disappointment didn't last long, because after they each had their hot chocolate in their hands, he interlaced their fingers again.
She couldn't lie, her heart skipped a beat when he did that.
"Are we fake dating again?" she asked lightly, trying to break out of the awkwardness that she felt.
"Let's do it," he responded, winking at her. "If we don't act like a couple, that guy might come to bother you again."
"I think it'll be okay," she assured him. "If he sees you nearby, I think he'll stay away."
"Well then... maybe I just want to hold your hand, okay?" he told her, flashing that dimpled smile of his.
Gayoung couldn't stop the blush that came to her cheeks and so she looked down, taking small sips of her hot chocolate instead.
If you don't stop, I might seriously fall for you.
"You're such a flirt," she said, mock glaring at him and hoping that he wouldn't be able to tell how flustered he'd made her. Hoping that he wouldn't be able to see right through her and know that her heart was suddenly beating faster. Hoping that she wouldn't give anything away through her eyes.
"This is the second time we're fake dating," Chan said after a moment. "At this point, maybe we should just date for real."
Gayoung laughed, but when she looked up at Chan, he wasn't smiling. His face was serious.
He wasn't joking.
"Um..." she said, trying to figure out what to say, but suddenly she felt very lost. She couldn't concentrate on anything other than the rapid beating of her heart.
But his phone rang at that moment, and it saved her.
"You should... you should answer your phone," she said quickly.
He nodded, answering it. It was Miran, as she'd expected. They'd be taking her home now. Their "date" was over.
