It didn't take that long to find Hanse. One call from Subin and he told them where he was waiting, and they went out to the campus grass and found him waiting on a bench, Byungchan by his side. They both had sad expressions on their faces.

"You okay?" Subin asked, taking Hanse's hand as he sat on the other side. Gayoung squeezed her way in next to Subin.

"I can't believe he sold it," Hanse whispered. "It's been years. He needs to stop being paranoid now."

"Have you talked to him about it recently?" Byungchan asked. Gayoung could tell that Byungchan was still struggling with his own problems, but she could see how much of an effort he was making to help Hanse at that moment. It made her heart swell to see the strong friendship that these boys had.

"We had a big fight when he found out," Hanse sighed. "The biggest fight we've ever had, I think. He said I was being really disrespectful and that I should focus on my grades and do better. I know he's scared that I'm going to get hurt... but I can't do this anymore," he said, his voice breaking a little bit. He looked like he was falling apart and any moment she expected him to start crying, but he didn't. He just stared into the distance, his eyes empty and sad.

"Do you want to stay at my house for a little bit?" Byungchan ventured. "You know I have the room."

Hanse closed his eyes, nodding. "I'd like that."

"Don't worry about bringing soap or toothbrushes or anything. We have everything you could need. Except clothes. Just bring clothes. And books."

"My books are already in my bag. I'll just buy new clothes. I don't want to go back to that house right now. Not when he's being like this."

"Hanse... you have to tell him where you're going..." Subin said softly. "He'll worry too much if you don't. You know that."

"I know. I'll tell him. I just don't want to see him. He'll never admit it, but he's wrong. Or at the very least, he's not completely right."

"About what?" Byungchan asked. "About the motorcycle? Because you know, that is a bit dangerous-"

"Not about that. I mean about everything. He tries to keep me so sheltered because he wants to protect me, but he's wrong. He's wrong if his protection means I don't get to live. I'm not going to live my life in fear just because I might die. I want to enjoy life. More than anything, I think that's what Mom would have wanted. I just wish he could see that too."

They stayed in silence for a moment. Then Gayoung reached forward, resting one of her hands on top of his. "That's very wise," she said softly. "And one day, I'm sure he'll realize this too."

"It's hard," Hanse whispered back. "And now that he took my motorcycle away... it's like my one escape is gone. Now, I feel more trapped than ever."
