"I want to go to the amusement park," Byungchan said, reaching into his wallet and holding up four tickets. "And you guys are coming too, like it or not."
"I like that idea!" Subin said, linking his arm with Byungchan. "Let's go?" he said, turning back to look at Gayoung and Hanse as Byungchan led him away.
"Should we link arms too?" Hanse asked, holding out his arm to her.
"I think not," she teased back at him.
"Why?" he complained, making a face at her. "I'm trying to be a gentleman."
"Fine, if you insist," she said dramatically, rolling her eyes playfully and taking his arm. "Only because I don't want to hear you whining." She peered up at him. "You know, you look really cool and intimidating, but you're not scary at all."
"You know, you look shy and soft-spoken, but you're not hesitant at all," he said, using the same matter-of-fact tone that she had. "You're quite honest."
"Honestly is important in a friendship," she said simply, shrugging her shoulders.
Hanse shot her a sidelong glance. "Are we friends?" he asked playfully.
Gayoung glared at him. "We better be friends," she said, holding up a finger at him threateningly. "Or else that will be quite awkward for Subin."
"Nah," Hanse said, unconcerned. "He'll just drop you. He's known me for years, so he definitely will choose me over you."
"Wow, I'm really feeling the love," she said sarcastically. "Is this how you make all your friends?"
"As I said, I don't know if I want to be your friend," he said again, smirking at her.
"At this point, I can't quite tell if you're joking or not," she admitted, examining his face.
"I'm joking, of course. Let's be friends. Subin likes you a lot, so I'm sure I will too."
"He does?" Gayoung said happily, a smile coming to her face. "That's so sweet. How though? We just met this morning. Is he always this... open? Trusting? Likes people this easily? You know what I mean?"
"That was... a lot of questions," Hanse said with a laugh. "But I think I get the idea. No, he doesn't always make friends this easily. I don't know what he saw in you that was so special."
"Wow..."
"I didn't mean that in a mean way!" Hanse said quickly, looking at her in concern. "I just... I don't know. I honestly don't know why he decided to befriend you, but you should feel lucky that he did. He's great."
"Why thank you," Subin called, turning around and smiling at the two of them. He stopped walking, forcing Byungchan to stop and turn around as well. "And honestly, I don't know why I decided to introduce myself to her either," he said, looking at Hanse. "But I'm glad I did."
"Aww, that was really sweet," Gayoung gushed, putting a hand on her heart. "Thank you."
"Stop getting all mushy," Byungchan whined. "We're so close," he said, pointing at the amusement park a block away. "Hurry up," he complained, dragging Subin along again. Gayoung and Hanse kept pace beside them.
"What rides do you like?" Byungchan asked her. "Do you like rollercoasters?"
"Absolutely not," she said, shaking her head vehemently. "Well, I can do little ones. But never like... the upside-down ones. None of the really scary ones. I tend to stick to things like the teacup ride," she admitted bashfully.
Byungchan laughed, showing off that dimple of his again. They finally reached the entrance and he showed the tickets, and they all walked in.
"Can we get headbands first?" Subin asked.
"Yes!" Byungchan said enthusiastically, ruffling Subin's hair and leading them all to the gift shop.
"Maybe we can get matching ones," Gayoung asked, picking up one with bear ears. She tried it on. "What do you think, cute?"
"Yes it's cute, but no for the matching headbands," Byungchan said sadly. "It might start dating rumors or some craziness like that."
Gayoung immediately felt a pang of guilt, watching his face fall like that. She saw Subin and Hanse exchange concerned looks.
"Besides, it'll be more fun to each be our own animals anyway," Subin said cheerfully, placing an angel headband on his own head.
"You... are an angel?" Hanse said, looking at him with mock disgust.
"Obviously," Subin replied, reaching forward and putting a devil headband on Hanse's head. "And you're not. Ha!"
"I am... ignoring that," Hanse said, turning to Byungchan. "Which one will you get?"
"I will be... this frog," Byungchan decided, picking up a frog headband and putting it on his head. "What do you think?"
"You're definitely the cutest frog I've ever seen," Gayoung said honestly.
He winked at her. "Of course. Now let's go pay. And then we'll go...?"
"To the teacups!" she decided, leading the way to the cashier.
She heard the three boys laugh behind her. "To the teacups!" they chorused in agreement.
