"Can I help?" she blurted out.
Gayoung wasn't even completely sure why she did that. They just met like, two seconds ago. Maybe she was overstepping by trying to help.
But seeing the heartbroken look on his face, she couldn't not do anything.
"I don't know," he sighed. "I just..."
Sejun trailed off, not saying anything else for a moment.
"Just?" Seungwoo prompted, exchanging a worried glance with Gayoung.
"I'm just hoping she comes today," he mumbled, staring at his hands, which were folded in his lap. "The letter I left... I wrote a time and date. I hope she can come. But her parents, and mine, really go out of their way to keep us apart. For the past few months, all of our plans have been interrupted by them. So I don't know. I don't know what to do," he whispered, tears balancing on his lashes, threatening to fall.
"What if I went to her house?" Gayoung suggested after a moment of thought. "If her parents think she's hanging out with a friend, with me, will they suspect anything? Especially since they never saw me with you?"
"They've also never seen you with her," Sejun pointed out.
"But I can just say I'm a college friend or something. If she lives in the area she probably goes to my university, right? Or at least a nearby one. It won't be strange to have known each other-"
"She doesn't go to college," Sejun interrupted. "She dropped out. She can't go right now... there's a situation..."
Gayoung wasn't sure what to say now. She'd run out of ideas.
"Hey," Seungwoo said, drawing their attention to him. "Let's try it, hm? I can go with Gayoung and we can say the three of us are hanging out. Tell me where you want us to meet you."
"Her parent's definitely will be suspicious if you're there," Sejun said, a small smile coming to his face. "You and Seungsik are always there, picking me up when..."
"And whose fault is that?" Seungwoo joked. "But you're right, they'll know right away. So... who's been there the least? And when is this meeting of yours exactly?"
"It's... in less than an hour. And I'm not sure. But I honestly don't think Chan has ever been there..."
"Chan it is," Seungwoo said, getting up and pressing a few buttons on his phone before holding it to his ear. "He's definitely free," he said, waiting as the phone started to ring. "He's usually lazing around the movie theater all day."
Something about that made Gayoung sad. At the amusement park, he'd seemed bright and happy. But in the theater, he'd seemed to be on the verge of falling apart. She wondered why he'd stay there so often, especially since he seemed to be going alone.
What was wrong?
She shook the thoughts away. She couldn't help everyone. And right now, her focus was on Sejun.
"He's on his way," Seungwoo said, getting off of the phone. "I'll still drive you to her house, and park where her parents won't see my car. I already texted her and let her know the plan so... let's hope her parents don't catch on."
"And let's hope my parents don't have someone following me again," Sejun sighed. "I texted you the location I'll be at," he continued, looking at Seungwoo.
"It'll work," Seungwoo assured him. "I'm sure it will."
