Jennie took a deep breath and swiped her hand along the panel next to the door. At the sound of a door sliding open, Jennie stepped to the side so the hallway lights wouldn't illuminate her. She held her position flat against the wall for a heartbeat before relaxing.

The entryway did not light up and no guards entered.

In total darkness, Jennie sidled forward and pressed her palm against the panel. Again, there was the hydraulic sound of a door hissing closed and open once more. Still no light.

What's going on? Jennie poked her head out of the room and found the entire corridor doused in darkness.

Was this part of Jisoo's plan? A power outage?

Not one to overthink an advantage, Jennie stepped out of the room to make her way down the corridor. She had a general understanding of how to reach the elevators, even in the dark.

As Jennie exited the room, she stepped through what felt like a large spider web. Making a silent face of disgust, Jennie brushed at her face and arms, trying to remove the ghostly faint tendrils of the webbing.

Somewhat satisfied, Jennie looked up and saw that some fifty yards in front of her, the gloom turned to a dull gray, illuminated by an apparent light from the adjoining corridor to the left.

That light wasn't there a second ago, was it? Doubt began to creep into Jennie's thoughts.

Jennie tried to clear her head and moved forward cautiously, now holding a hand in front of her to avoid unwanted contact.

As she reached the intersection, Jennie carefully peeked around the corner to find a similarly dim corridor with a singular lit bulb hanging in the middle of another crossroad.

A shock of anxiety tingled down the back of Jennie's neck and she became acutely aware of how vulnerable she was standing in the darkness. Jennie hurried forward into the light.

*Thud*

Jennie whirled around. She strained her eyes into the darkness but could see nothing. She cursed her own paranoia, like a foolish moth she had been drawn to the light and now she was illuminated for anyone to see.

*Thud*

The light above her flickered off and Jennie was plunged into complete darkness. Rather than wait for whatever was coming, Jennie stiffened her resolve and turned left, heading away from the direction of the last sound. She carefully trailed a hand along the wall to ensure she didn't miss another turn in the darkness. These walls feel rougher than before. Am I entering a new area?

There was a loud flat sound in the hall behind her, no longer muffled by distance or walls. Jennie flinched and crouched into a smaller target. Blind in the darkness, she hopelessly turned in the direction of the sound. She stared at the shadows.

The paranoia dripped down her back and beads of sweat accompanied it. Panic beginning to take her, Jennie whispered into the darkness, desperate for a response, "Hello?"

The dull flat sound responded.

The light bulb flickered back on to reveal an empty hallway.

*Slap..... Slump.... Slap. Slump*

The sounds grew louder. Something was coming

Jennie clamped a hand over her mouth. She felt frozen in place.

A pale and drooping face crossed into the light, followed by pale arms and legs.

But that was where human similarities ended.

The creature's neck was too thin and long to support its drooping head so its skull repeatedly slumped to the ground as five elongated arms dragged the body forward, slapping the ground in unison. Numerous legs were bent and twisted over the top of its body and seemed to have no purpose beyond reminding one of their worst nightmares. It had three eyes in a row on the top of its head which would have been the perfect angle to view prey except the dark red orbs rolled blindly in their sockets. Its jaw hung open and Jennie could see the tendons inside working as it gnashed its gums a hideously soft clack. The monster slowed as it entered the light as if it could sense the change in environment. Despite the drooping head, the monster's bulky body rose towards the light bulb, ten feet high.

Jennie's trembling hands moved from her face to her neck as fear gripped her throat.

The thing that stood in the light was beyond terror. It summoned a dread so primal that all other feelings evaporated. Jennie took a deep breath.

Jennie screamed.

Jennie turned and ran.

Her only advantage was being able to run on two working legs. But the slapping and thuds grew fast and furious as the monster followed her down the hallway with unnatural speed.

Jennie stumbled through the darkness as quickly as possible, a slight bend in her arms as she held them, desperately hoping to latch onto something, anything. Fear stole precious air from her lungs and dread sapped the strength from her muscles. She knew there was no way to escape. There was no waking from this nightmare of certain death.

Something caught her foot in the darkness and Jennie went sprawling, skidding across the rough stone floor. Jennie rolled onto her back and desperately kicked at the object and felt a familiar softness. It was someone's hand.

Overwhelmed by pure fear, Jennie kicked the hand away and curled into a ball.

The hallway was silent but for the sound of her own heaving breath.

Suddenly, a light bulb above her flickered on and a pale face loomed out of the darkness.

A terror filled scream echoed from somewhere in the distance and Jisoo stopped.

*Thud*

Jisoo's knees buckled and she collapsed to the ground, futilely peering into the darkness surrounding her.

Fear had erased the concept of time. She couldn't remember how long she had been here, how she had come to be here.

"...Hello?"
