Jennie pressed her ear to the edge of the doorframe. She could hear a faint humming of the power flowing through the door but nothing more. She would just have to assume that the guards had remained in place.
She backed away from the door pensively. Jisoo asked me to trust her. She captured me for a reason and then she gave me a key to escape. So what now?
Jennie thought back to the moments of her first dungeon escape with Sylvia and Harry.
The close quarters chaos of the stairwell worked perfectly to her advantage. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Sylvia and Harry slip into the growing mass of unconscious and injured guards on the floor.
Despite how well things were going for her, Jennie knew that the commotion she was causing would catch the attention of the YG elite sooner rather than later. There was no chance of her escaping with the others.
As she flipped a guard over her shoulder and turned to snap his arm, she felt a presence rush behind her, far faster than any normal guard could move. Before she could react, Jennie heard a faint whisper. "Trust me." The next moment, she felt a familiar combination of strikes to her back and upper body. They were meant to paralyze an opponent. Each point was struck properly but they lacked the strength to fully disable her. She knew then that her assailant must be Jisoo. She collapsed, feigning paralysis, and lay still as Ophelia and Jisoo hauled her away.
Jennie rubbed at a sore spot on her shoulder. I wasn't kidding about that massage. That girl needs to learn how to fake attacks better. Jennie sighed dramatically and pressed two fingers against her forehead, doing her best to focus. So Jisoo did that so she'd be able to supersede Ophelia and take charge of my capture. I heard Jisoo give the order for me to be placed on the 34th floor as they took me away. Which must mean something important is nearby... but what?
Jennie sighed again and tousled her hair with an inward groan. Too much thinking. Plus all that torture made me hungry. Let's just get information the old fashioned way.
She carefully made her way towards the control panel in the middle of the room in the darkness.
Outside the interrogation room, a mid-shift change of guards walked past. A few nodded at the two guards standing in front of the room. The two snapped to attention when the other guards were in view and immediately relaxed once they left. Guarding interrogation rooms were among the easiest shifts YG guards could get. The prisoners and victims on the other side of the door would have to gain access to two levels of security just to be able to open the door that they guarded.
The door behind the guards hissed open.
The guards spun around startled and raised their weapons. A quiet beat passed and the guards exchanged a look.
"Did you lean against the sensor again?" The guard on the left asked.
"You know that's not how it works anymore idiot." His partner replied. The guard lowered his weapon and placed a hand against the panel beside him. A red flash accompanied by a beep warned him of an error. He sighed.
"What's wrong?"
The guard stepped into the room, "No clue. The error message just says I can't close it from out there. Maybe a short circuit."
The other guard lowered his weapon as well and watched as his friend disappeared into the darkness. "Maybe those females messed with some weird settings while they were in there." His exaggerated tone emphasized the word 'female' in his joke.
A chuckle echoed out of the room. "They gotta be doing some crazy stuff in here to short circuit the interrogation panel. The door broke and the lights aren't even working."
