As Joy and Yeri drew closer, Jisoo held her ground. Based on the speed of their attacks before, Jisoo knew that if she tried to retreat with her injuries, Yeri would catch her before she made it to cover. Jisoo was weaponless as the knife she had used was still embedded in Joy's side. The woman held a loose hand over the grip of the blade to prevent it from wobbling as she shot forward. Yeri let Joy move in front before following closely behind. They were so close that they appeared as one shadow in the near darkness of the cover inside the arena.

If their previous deceptive tactics weren't proof enough, the way Yeri and Joy attacked now made it clear to Jisoo that the pair had fought together often. But she knew that one of the most difficult aspects of simultaneously fighting a single opponent was staying out of each other's way.

I have to disrupt their timing.

Rather than wait for their attacks, Jisoo stepped forward once, paused, and then leaped forward. Her erratic approach was just enough to make Joy hesitant. In her previous rage, Joy may have swung with wild speed and abandon but now she concentrated as she swung her sword at Jisoo's neck to ensure she made proper connection. As Joy's sword came in from above and to the left, Yeri's attack came from below and straight on. But Jisoo shifted into the miniscule opening of space that had been opened by Joy. Now in between the pair Jisoo used the momentum of their attacks against them and pushed them. Yeri cranked her arm to the side to avoid stabbing Joy and Joy lifted her sword arm to prevent it from crashing into Yeri as her wide swing had caused her arm to swing back towards her body.

Even caught off guard, the two were too agile to collide and they spun past each other. Jisoo had anticipated this and was there before they could recover. As Yeri stumbled and swung around Jisoo twisted and snapped an elbow towards her face and caught her directly on her nose. Yeri's head jerked backwards. At the same time Jisoo used her other hand to grab onto the knife in Joy's stomach as she turned belatedly to face Jisoo. The knife spin across Joy's body would have sliced her stomach open but Joy immediately threw herself backwards and onto the floor. Despite her advantageous position, Jisoo used the opening to fall away from the pair, holding her newly reacquired knife.

This is not good, Jisoo thought as she tried to settle the fatigue beginning to cause her legs to shake.

Yeri slowly lowered her head and put a hand to her nose. Joy groaned slightly before propping herself up on one elbow. She grinned at Jisoo, her bright white teeth flecked red with blood were still visibly bright.

Yeri held up a bloody palm, "You got me pretty good." Moving her other hand from behind her back, Yeri tossed the sword back towards Joy who caught it as she got up.

I knew it! Jisoo watched them carefully. Yeri moved her head backwards before I hit her and then Joy managed to throw her the sword even as I was about to disembowel her. If I had pushed my attack on either of them, I would have been wide open, Jisoo cursed inwardly.

"So what gave it away?" Joy asked innocently.

Jisoo gave her a sour look that looked even more frightening in the dimness of light.

On one hand, that they're still playing with me even when I've come close to killing them is really hurting my pride. But at least it's buying me more time.

"I didn't feel a crack when I hit Yeri's nose." Jisoo said after a pause.

Joy rolled her eyes as she looked at Yeri. "How many times have I told you that you have to commit to the act. Although I doubt it would have worked anyways." She self consciously rested a hand against her wounded stomach. "Sorry, Jisoo. We would play a little longer but you stabbing me kind of seriously pissed me off so I'll end things here."
