24: Fury

Jisoo turned to face her new opponents and prepared to use Seulgi as a shield in case any of them wanted to throw projectiles. But Red Velvet hadn't moved.

Ophelia shifted in her place at the panel uncomfortably while YG tapped a finger on her cane. She wasn't the type to repeat herself without necessity.

YG just realized her mistake, Jisoo thought triumphantly. If they attack me now, I can kill Seulgi to prevent even greater odds. And if YG pushes for them to obey, they may just outright turn on her. Could SM really blame them if they broke a collaboration to save one of their members?

Jisoo slowly lowered the knife from Seulgi's throat.

I have to take a chance.

She released Seulgi and pushed the woman away from her. Jisoo held onto the knife and watched Irene carefully. "You know we don't need to fight." Jisoo said beseechingly.

Irene's eyes flicked from Jisoo to YG. YG didn't move save for a slightly curious tilting of her head.

Irene raised her chin slightly and looked down at Jisoo with a cold stare. "I'm afraid we don't have much of a choice."

YG crossed her arms over her chest in satisfaction and shook her head mockingly. "Once again you failed to see the bigger picture, daughter."

Irene raised two fingers and then dropped her hand.

Having lost her only bargaining chip,, Jisoo watched in dismay as Yeri and Joy stepped forward and dropped into the pit.

Seulgi stepped past Joy and Yeri and clambered onto a nearby platform behind the two new threats.

Jisoo took a step back as they approached her from either side. She quickly scanned them. Joy was wearing a bright green loose fighting jacket with a blouse and jeans. Yeri had on a purple hoodie and dark pants. Their hands were empty and remained close to their sides. Just like Seulgi, nothing about them gave her any details on what type of attack to expect. I have no choice then.

Judging by the report, the girls were probably discovered somewhere on the lower floors and Jennie wasn't able to make it to the security room to prevent the dispatch warning.

Jisoo took another step back and stopped. Putting her back to cover only meant that they would attack her together. She didn't fancy her chances against two healthy killers. Somehow I have to survive until they get here.

Yeri and Joy began to pace around her like hyenas over a dying body. Jisoo was forced to turn at odd intervals to keep them both in vision.

"Just the two of them." Somewhere behind her, YG sounded bored.

"I assure you that two is more than enough to deal with your daughter. " Irene spoke lightly but Jisoo could sense she was slightly insulted.

YG laughed, a beautiful ringing note. "Of course. But... You send the youngest of the group. Especially after your second most senior member was defeated so easily. It wouldn't bode well for your group's skills or your leadership if they were to lose as well. "

Initially, Irene was silent as she searched for the correct words.

Seulgi was silent as well but Jisoo was sure that her pride had been sorely damaged even if she hadn't been hurt in their short fight. 

Wendy spoke up for the first time. "The fault is mine, Madame YG. I was badly injured in a previous mission. My leader was looking out for my health."

YG simply smiled, "As long as they get it done quickly. Unfortunately we only have a limited amount of time now." 

Jisoo bit her lip in consternation, Is she saying she'd rather I die here than let Lisa save me in front of these strangers? Everything that she tried. Everything that she did to me in order to make me into what she wanted. Am I worthless to her when compared to her pride?
