"...Lisa? Lisa!" Rosie reached over and pulled on the steering wheel, yanking the car out of the oncoming traffic lane. Eye closed, Titania clanked against the door, her huge body left only a small space to either side of the seats behind them.
"What!?" Lisa's eyes refocused on the road and she steadied the large vehicle. She shot a sheepish look towards Rosie. "Sorry. Guess I'm sleepier than I thought." She glanced at Rosie again. "I'll be fine."
Rosie sighed, "Well it's not like there's many cars out this late at night but we really don't want to deal with the American police on top of YG right now." She watched Lisa focusing on the road more closely. Rosie knew her friend well enough to know when she was lying. "You're worried about her, aren't you?" Rosie knew the answer but she still had to ask.
"Worried about who, Jisoo?" Lisa asked, not looking away from the road.
Rosie rolled her eyes, "No, I meant Sylvia. Yes Jisoo!"
Lisa pulled a face of shock, "You joke but really where is Sylvia? She and Harry were supposed to meet up with us but I didn't see them anywhere when I came down."
"Stop trying to change the subject, Lisa." Rosie continued staring at her.
"What do you want me to say!?" Lisa raised her voice, amplified in the enclosed space. "We're going back to get Jennie and Jisoo out of there and that's final."
"And what if Jisoo doesn't want to go?"
"She will. I'll make her if I have to. Jisoo and I have spent the last ten years talking about how awful YG is. I won't accept that Jisoo suddenly found common ground with her mother in the last few hours. There's something else at play here. " Lisa's eyes grew distant again as her thoughts shifted towards Jisoo.
Rosie sighed, knowing that she wouldn't be able to reason with Lisa.
Lisa sat in the silence and then said, "Look, you're overly careful and I'm impulsive. We keep each other balanced but all I'm asking is that you trust me, even if you can't trust Jisoo. LiChaeng? "
Rosie rolled her eyes and gave a begrudging smile, "It's ChaeLisa and you know it."
Titania groaned while keeping her eye closed, "Please lovebirds. Just keep pretending like I'm not here."
Lisa eyed her bulky armor that nearly blocked the rear window, "Easier said than done."
They drove in silence for the next few minutes save for the occasional moan from Titania when they went over a bump. The closer they drew to the Tower without notice or alarm being raised, the more confident Lisa became. She dared to hope. Maybe this plan really will work!
The rain continued to pour onto the street. Lisa had the windshield wipers going at full speed but visibility remained low. She sped through a yellow light and looked over at her friend who had lifted up her shirt to wrap her ribs. "We're almost there." Lisa warned, quickly averting her eyes.
"Yeah. I'm ready." Rosie slumped back into her seat with a pained groan and gently patted a hand against her now bandaged chest. "That should help things a little bit. At least every breath won't be agony now." She tossed the supply bag backwards where it clanged against Titania's leg and dropped to the floor. "Sorry."
Titania grunted in response.
"I still can't believe you're alive, Rosie." As if to confirm she wasn't dreaming, Lisa smiled and rested a hand on Rosie's leg.
For a moment Rosie stared at Lisa's hand on her leg, her eyes unreadable. Then she smirked, "You're one to talk of survival. First you get stabbed through the stomach and then you get into a deathmatch with a dude with, what, electric swords? You should probably have died from blood loss at this point. Falling off a roof is easy compared to that."
Lisa grinned, not taking her eyes off the road, "I've always said we're the toughest ones in BLACKPINK."
Titania muttered something unintelligible to herself.
Rosie immediately craned her head backwards, "What did you just say?"
Titania opened her one eye and blearily tried to focus on the assassins. "I can't be sure since Madame doesn't keep us fully apprised of her plans... But I believe that the survival of both of you was planned for by YG. You must both be careful if you intend to fight her..." Titania took a shaky breath. Her honey gold complexion had been growing steadily paler ever since they had dragged her into the car. Her eye fluttered closed.
Lisa and Rosie shared a concerned look regarding Titania's condition and her revelation. "Titania?" Lisa looked at Titania in the rearview mirror. Lisa's eyes widened in shock and she yanked the wheel to the side.
Titania groaned and braced herself against the side of the door.
With a yelp of surprise, Rosie grabbed onto the hand rest above the window. "Lisa, what are you-!"
Rosie cut herself off as a massive truck sped into the patch of slick pavement they had just vacated. "It's going to ram us!" Rosie yelled as the truck swerved away from them.
Lisa ripped the wheel to the side, yanking their vehicle towards the truck and they slammed together before their attacker could gain momentum. For the briefest moment, as they pressed against the driver's window, Lisa could see the faint dark outline of a massively muscled man.
"No way." Lisa breathed quietly. Lisa pulled away and the man driving the truck drove onto the empty sidewalk, weaving between sidewalk obstructions.
The window of the truck rolled down and the barrel of a sub-machine gun emerged from the dark cabin. The man's pointy toothed grin was now apparent. Lisa slammed on the brakes as a spray of bullets spit past them. She spun the wheel and flew into an alleyway. They emerged onto the adjoining street. YG Tower was directly in front of them.
"Lisa. That man. Was that...?" Rosie trailed off. She painfully turned in her seat to grab the supply bag again, this time pulling out a gun of her own.
"No. There's no way. I cut off one of his arms and then I sliced a hole in his chest with his own weapon." Lisa said, dumbfounded. She watched as a pair of headlights appeared behind them. "How could he have survived?"
"Are you sure that was the same man?" Titania's eye opened halfway. She seemed to be fighting to remain conscious and near delirious.
"Yea, Titania!" Lisa yelled as swerved across the median and into oncoming traffic. The few other cars lurched out of the way as another spray of bullets flew around the car. Rosie's window split into cobwebs at the impact. "He was just bleeding all over me a few minutes ago. I'm pretty sure of what he looks like!" Lisa finished her thought and fixed her focus on the quickly approaching Tower.
"So that's it then... Madame's experiments." Titania mumbled.
But her words were drowned out as the back of their truck exploded in a shower of glass as the man's truck flew over the median and slammed into their right rear wheel. With a yell of pain, Titania was flung against the back of the seats.
Rosie braced herself against the dashboard and narrowly avoided another concussion. She rolled down her window and leaned out into the rain, firing a burst of bullets at the truck. She hit the hood of the vehicle and the man swung towards Lisa's side to avoid further damage. The man rammed the side of their truck again.
Lisa swung the SUV from side to side to prevent it from rolling. A quick glance in the side mirror told Lisa that she had no other options left and she pressed on the gas.
"I can't get a shot from this side and I don't want to cause any collateral damage by shooting towards the buildings." Rosie sat back in her seat and belatedly realized what Lisa was planning as the Tower filled the view of the windshield. "Lisa..." But rather than try to convince her friend otherwise, Rosie wisely braced herself again.
"Sorry. Looks like I'm going to have to make a few unexpected changes to the plan." Lisa said through gritted teeth.
At their high speed, the SUV easily jumped the curb and Lisa expertly guided the vehicle in between the pillars in front of the entrance to the American YG building. The SUV carrying two assassins and one unconscious YG elite smashed through the glass paned lobby windows.
