The woman sighed as she readjusted her skirt and sat back down in her chair.
She brushed her hair over her shoulder and a well polished name pin reading Aneya could be seen pinned to her lapel. She stared unfocused at the computer screen in front of her. The time in the corner read 3:12am. She sighed again.
I guess this is my life now.
Aneya had never heard of YG Entertainment until they had begun building the massive skyscraper downtown so she had done her best to feign an interest in the company. During her preparation for the interview, Aneya had seen online rumors about YG's shady connections to Korean crime but... the pay was astoundingly high for an entry level position and nothing had ever been reliably traced back to the company. At least in her mind, it would have been a bigger surprise if such a massive and obviously wealthy company *didn't* have any potentially suspicious ties.
The real surprise had come when YGE called her back to offer her a position. They had been impressed with her observational skills and quick thinking. She accepted and had only recently completed intensive job training. At first she had shown up to work secretly hoping to catch a glimpse of any notorious individuals. Despite the NDA's she had to sign upon hiring, she was positive that even vague gossip would have been enough to fuel her group chat for days. Unfortunately she had only seen one important figure in her short time, YG herself. The imperious woman had swept through the lobby in the early morning hours, flanked by an enormous woman in medieval looking armor and a graceful woman who seemed to float more than walk. Aneya had no idea why anyone would need to be wearing armor in this day and age but the mystery had held little value to her friends.
Aneya sighed again.
Her eyes drifted and she watched the rain pouring down around the building. She could barely hear the impact of the rain through the thick lobby glass.
Even at such a busy company, there were hours in which visitor and worker traffic slowed to a trickle. The lobby, aside from Aneya, was usually empty until around 4:30am when the morning shifts would start coming.
Her eyes were drawn back to the computer screen.
3:13am
Aneya groaned aloud. "Can't something cool happen for once?"
As if summoned by her words, a massive vehicle came crashing through the front doors. Aneya dove under her desk with a scream and covered her head.
There was a continuous explosion of sound as the car scraped along the floor and a delicate clinking as glass showered the area. Aneya's head hesitantly emerged from behind the desk and she watched as two young women fought against their airbags and exited the damaged vehicle. Upon touching the floor, the passenger immediately scanned the area, and Aneya ducked back out of sight.
Robbers? No... Even robbers would have a better plan than crashing through the front doors. We have nothing of value on the lower levels. Security would have seen them coming so why didn't they warn me with the communicators?... It's better to be safe than sorry I guess, Aneya thought pragmatically. She pressed the emergency button on the underside of her desk. There was a low tone as security was patched through, Aneya waited for a moment before speaking quietly.
"Emergency alert: Two women have just attacked the building. They drove an SUV through the lobby doors. It appears to be just the two of them for now." Aneya paused and waited for orders from security control. She cautiously peeked out of cover again.
The driver had dried blood on her clothes and arms but Aneya couldn't discern if it was from the crash or something prior. She seemed oblivious to her injuries as she pointed towards the east wing before turning back towards their vehicle. Her companion immediately took off towards the elevator which meant she would pass right by where Aneya was hidden.
