*Alice's POV*
"Alice," a female voice says.
"Mmm." I groan loudly, as I cover my face with a pillow. I don't want to wake up.
"It's late, wake up!" It says again, this time much louder.
"Five more minutes.." I groan, rolling over, hoping to daze back into my deep sleep; dreaming about dark brown eyes, tan skin, and a chiseled jaw line-
"Alicia Lynn Underwood, wake up!" The voice yells. No! It can't be, there is only one person that calls me by my real full name. My mother.
"Mom?" My eyes dart open, and I jump up from bed. I gasp, taking in her dashing image, she looks exactly the same. Her hair is pulled back into a tight ponytail, but the ends of her hair are curled very loosely. Her makeup is done to perfection, and she's wearing her usual black dress pants and a white button up dress shirt, along with her small pointy black heels.
I jump into her arms before wrapping my arms around her neck. "That's my girl.." He giggles and her comforting arms wrap around my waist, and I burry my head into her neck, giving me the same old comforting smell she always has. It's that comforting motherly smell, I've missed it so much.
"Wh-how? You didn't tell me you were coming!" I stutter shocked, pulling away from our encouraging hug.
"Well, I thought I'd surprise you." She smiles, taking a look around my room.
"Why? You should of called, I could of at least tried to clean up the place." I bite my lower lip, knowing my room looks like a total mess. It won't be long until she gives me a lesson on why it's so important to keep my room clean.
"Well I figured I'd come for your birthday." She tells me and my eyes widen. I've completely lost track of the days, I reach over and grab my phone, it's July 3rd, tomorrow will be 4th of July, my birthday. My life has been so hectic lately, that I've completely forgotten about everything that doesn't have to do with Cameron.
"Besides, I'm only staying for a day," she tells me and my eyebrows furrow.
"Why?" I ask, almost whining.
"I have to be at the office tomorrow, I have a very important meeting to attend to with my client. But I just knew that if I didn't squeeze in some time to come see you, I wouldn't at all." She smiles sweetly. My mother has always been a huge business woman. She's a layer. She's always at the office, court house, or working on cases doing her thing. Yet she's always managed to keep a close relationship with me. My father has been out of the picture for most of the time; my parents got divorced when I was ten, and I have never really kept in touch with him ever since. I have always thought he was the reason for their divorce, well he was the reason, he cheated on my mother.
After that he moved to New York with his new, blonde, young wife, and I don't know much about him. My mother tells me, he stills supports us, and pays for expenses. He left her most of his properties, such as the beach house, and our home back in Arizona. He sometimes still calls and asks for me, but I always dodge the phone calls. I don't like talking to him, he's basically a stranger to me. I have never told anyone about my parents divorce, other then Jenny of course. Talking about my parents past has never been a subject I like to touch on; it's too personal.
"Oh," I say, trying to sound neutral, but she notices the disappointment in my voice.
"You know that if it were up to me, I'd stay as long as possible, but work wont allow me." She frowns slightly, as she tucks a stray strand of hair that has worked its way free from my messy ponytail behind my ear.
"I know," I nod understandingly. "I just wish you could stay longer." I murmur, looking down at my undone finger nails.
My mom lives in her work, and I don't really have friends. That's why she encouraged me to spend my summer without her in LA. She knew her work was very important and she wouldn't be able to spend the entire summer here. She didn't want to tie me down and have me back at home in Arizona where I wouldn't have much to do, although with how things are going around here, summer back home sound much better then here.
