**Alice POV**

We've been driving for about eight thousand years, or at least that's how it felt. Jenny, my best friend was driving, meanwhile I sat in the passengers seat. We had been stuck in traffic for a few minutes now. This was endless. And to top it all off it was burning hot. The sun burned my skin terribly. I felt drops of sweat run down my forehead as I swiped it away with the back of my hand.

The traffic slowly but surely started to move. *Beep Beep* Jenny began honking impatiently.  I watched as she stuck her head out her window, "You drive slower than my grandma!" She screamed receiving the middle finger in response from the blonde girl in the car in front of us. I couldn't help but laugh historically. I love Jenny, but she can be a little outspoken sometimes.

"Hold on tight!" She said barely giving me enough time to process what she was doing. Jenny hit the gas pedal with full force passing the blonde in the red Beatle, giving her the middle finger back.

"You're insane!" I gasp, trying to catch my breath

"Maybe a little," She joked, winking over at me.

"People like you shouldn't be allowed to drive."  I stated making her roll her eyes at me.

I ignored her and started to fiddle with the radio trying to find the perfect station. The radio started playing The Fray 'love don't die' which was one of my favorite songs. I started singing along, ignoring the fact that I had a terrible voice. Soon enough Jenny joined me. We both had a horrible voice but we didn't care.

Even though Jenny has been my best friend ever since the seventh grade, we were complete opposites. I guess you can say she's little Miss. Popular. She's the type of girl every girl wants to be, and the girl all guys want. I don't even begin to comprehend myself how were friends. I wasn't popular, I've never had a boyfriend. Jenny was pretty much the only friend I have ever had. I was more well invisible.

"This summer is going to be so much fun!" She exclaimed, nodding her head to the rhythm of the music.

In this moment we were on our way to my parents beach house in California were we will be spending all of our summer. I'm extremely exited, this is were I come every summer. As we got closer and closer I started getting the familiar butterflies in the pit of my stomach. I rolled the windows down trying to take it all in. The air smelled and tasted the same. The wind blowing in my face made me feel so free and alive. The sea salty breeze felt just right. It was all perfect, it's almost as if it had been waiting for me to get here.

"This summer is going to be unforgettable." I squeal.

Little did I know that this summer would change my life forever....
