294 AC, Casterly Rock
"Happy nameday, love," Jaime whispered, earning an unimpressed groan from Alyssa who did not appreciate being awoken.
"Don't remind me," Alyssa muttered into her pillow, "I cannot understand why your father insisted on having a huge feast when I told him I didn't want one."
"He has respected your wishes every year until now," Jaime said and she felt him moving behind her, his breath fanning her neck, "But the Lady of Casterly Rock's thirtieth nameday is not something one should take lightly. What is it with you and namedays?"
"I don't like that all the attention is on me," Alyssa said, "I have to smile politely while strangers congratulate me on being born thirty years ago which I did not have much to do with. And I always get stuck speaking with other ladies about the latest stitching pattern."
"Now you are exaggerating," Jaime muttered against the skin of her neck, "and I promise that I will do everything in my power to protect you from dying of boredom. As long as you are there to scare away any other lady that wishes to dance with me."
"No, other women flirting with you is the only amusement I have," Alyssa turned around to face her husband with a wide grin, "For a knight that radiates such confidence and arrogance you get very uncomfortable in the presence of beautiful maidens."
Jaime scoffed, "I'd bet my life on that most of those girls aren't maidens. Their intentions are far too— bold for maidens."
"Do you realise how vain it sounds when you complain about how many ladies that wishes to fuck you?" Alyssa snorted.
"No, what is it you use to say? I am aware of my own worth," Jaime gave her a cheeky smile, "But today is not about me, it's about you so get up, we have to break the fast with father, Tyrion and the children."
Alyssa and Jaime got out of bed and prepared themselves for breaking the fast with their family and much to their surprise they were the last ones to arrive and she was immediately greeted by hugs from her sons.
"Congratulations on your nameday, dearest sister," Tyrion said when they sat down at the table, "If I may say, you don't look a day over five-and-twenty."
"Thanks, Tyrion," she chuckled with an amused smile at the younger man's charms that wasn't completely unlike that of his older brother.
