303 AC, Stark-Targaryen Camp, Riverlands

For the second time since he arrived in Westeros, Rhaegar felt a fist collide with his face and he stumbled back slightly. He hadn't expected it to happen, but now when it had, it was quite obvious to him.

"That's for betraying my mother," Jon flexed his fingers while looking him straight in the eyes.

"Jon!" Alyssa gasped, her hand flying up to cover her mouth. However, the horror in her eyes was quickly replaced by another emotion. The hand that previously had shown her shock was now used to cover up her laughter - and she definitely did not succeed.

Rhaegar forgot the sting in his cheek when he got to see her beautiful smile when she gave up on covering up her amusement. Her melodic laughter rang through the air, causing everyone to turn to her instead.

"Father, are you okay?" Lyrella asked worriedly, looking at her mother and little brother in disbelief. "Do you think this is funny? He had no right to do that."

"I'm so proud of you, love," Alyssa told Jon with a proud smile.

Another quiet chuckle rung through the air and Rhaegar turned to see his own little brother attempting to cover up his laughter behind his fist. It was no secret that Viserys still held some grudge against him for having been unfaithful to Alyssa. Viserys attempted to cover it up with a cough, "I suddenly like you even more, nephew."

Lyrella's glare turned to Viserys and Rhaegar quickly interfered, "Calm down, Ella," Rhaegar told his daughter when he noticed her annoyed expression that was directed towards her uncle and mother. "Jon had every right to do that. If he didn't, I'm sure my loyal Kingsguard would have done something other than smirk," he sent a pointed look towards Arthur who looked like he was enjoying the situation.

"Although, I wish we could have solved this without violence, I understand your anger Jon," Rhaegar said calmly, "I truly wish I could have been there for you growing up - that our family could have been whole-"

"King Rhaegar, I have news-" Jon Connington stopped dead in his tracks when he noticed Alyssa's presence in the room as well as the red mark on Rhaegar's cheek, "What have you done?"

"Me?" Alyssa said in mock offence, "Why do I always get the blame? You are aware that I'm not the only person who might hold a grudge against your beloved King, right?"
