270 AC, Winterfell
Two years had passed since the death of Lyarra Stark and things had changed in Wintefell. After his wife's death Lord Rickard had grown a lot more serious, he barely smiled in the presence of others, except for his children. He hadn't grown colder towards his children, only a little distant.
Brandon's training as the future Lord of Winterfell and Warden of the North had grown even more serious over the years. He had now reached his tenth name day and was on his way to become a man. But it seemed like he preferred his sword and training with the Master of Arms more than his 'Lord lessons' and sometimes it worried Rickard.
Eddard, who had reached his eighth name day, had also grown quite a lot during the previous two years. He was far more serious than his older brother and was more interested in learning about his duty than Brandon was. Eddard was without a doubt Rickard's calmest child.
Lyanna was four now, and the opposite of a proper lady. She was even worse than her sister had been at her age when it came to acting like a lady. She was more often than not found outside covered in mud after playing outside with her siblings. And a big difference between her and her older sister was that she didn't want to make an effort when it came to her lessons, so she was far behind her older sister at her age.
Benjen was practically attached to his eldest sister's hip. Alyssa had taken a motherly role in his life, despite herself being a child, so Benjen usually followed her around the way his sibling had followed Lyarra. At two name days he was a happy little pup that without a doubt would grow up to be a mischievous boy.
Alyssa, she was probably the one who had changed the most during the last two years, yet hadn't changed at all. She had to grow up quickly in order to take care of her younger siblings and although she was to young to do her mother's duties, she had started learning how to do it. Her lady lessons had gotten more advanced and she had discovered that she hated poetry and she couldn't play a instrument to save her life. But she had a good singing voice, but she would never admit it, and she would try to do embroidery and could even find it relaxing sometimes. But despite her progress as a lady she would always prefer playing outside with her siblings and she had been gifted a pony on her sixth name day so she could start riding for real.
Alyssa had Benjen seated on her lap as she dined with her family. Instead of dining in the Great Hall with the household her father had decided that they would have a privet dinner that evening, and it worried Alyssa slightly. When her father wanted to dine in private it often meant he wanted to discuss something important.
