280 AC, King's Landing
"Alyssa?" a familiar voice gasped and she felt the hold on her throat loosen as the person took a step back in shock. Her hand immediately cradled her sore neck as she looked up at the hooded figure.
"Rhaegar" she said realising two things. One; her husband was standing in front of her in an abandoned street in Flea Bottom with a passed out man lying on the ground beside them. Two; from his clothes she could draw the conclusion that he was the minstrel she had heard earlier, "Fancy seeing you here."
Her eyes then landed on another figure that stood a few steps away and when he took off the hood of his cloak she gave him an awkward smile, "Good evening, Ser Barristan."
"Princess" Barristan said, still gaping at her. She supposed she was the last person he had expected to find here.
Her eyes then travelled back to Rhaegar who was looking at her while blinking, "What are you doing here?" he asked, the iron tone of his voice so different from the soft tune he had when he sang earlier.
"I wanted to go for a walk" Alyssa lied horribly. She was usually a pretty smooth liar but this wasn't the kind of situation she could talk herself out off.
"In Flea Bottom?" Rhaegar asked in disbelief and it looked like he was trying hard to keep it together. "You decided to take a walk in Flea Bottom?"
"Well, when you say it like that it doesn't sound good. But-" Alyssa tried but she was interrupted by a humourless laugh.
"It doesn't sound good?" Rhaegar raised his voice slightly, "Is that all you have to say to defend yourself."
"You wouldn't let me finish" Alyssa mumbled while avoiding to look at him. She felt like a child getting scolded and she didn't like that feeling at all.
"Your Highness" Barristan interfered, "Perhaps we should return to the Keep and then you can talk."
Alyssa could have kissed the knight in the moment. She knew she was in for a fight and would rather have it in another place without an unconscious man laying on the floor.
Rhaegar looked like he was contemplating it for a moment, his jaw clenched tightly. "You are right" he sighed, "let's head back."
"I can't return with you" Alyssa argues, "Two people left the Keep and three people cannot return. It would look too suspicious."
