295 AC, The Wall

Alyssa was in awe of the sight before her.

Since she was a little girl she had heard stories about the Wall. The massive barrier of ice that stretched across the northern border, separating the Seven Kingdoms from the land beyond. But what she had imagined had nothing against the true thing.

The Wall stretched for three hundred miles, so long that she couldn't see the end on either side from where she was now. And it was a seven hundred feet tall barrier of solid ice, stone and earth.

In the bright sunlight that illuminated the northern lands it looked blue and crystalline. And on a sunny day like this it sparkled form melting eyes, making it look like it was weeping.

"I thought it would be taller," Bash admitted from his horse beside her. He had his sword strapped against his hip like Alyssa but a bow hanging over his shoulder as well.

He truly looked like Robert did when he was younger with dark brown, almost black, hair and sea-blue eyes. A true Baratheon in appearance. He also shared some of his father's trait, like the fact that he was a true charmer, but that could also be an affect of being raised by Jaime and Tyrion. Unlike his father he may flirt but he didn't have such difficulty when it came to keeping it in his pants.

"It's one of the most impressive and largest structures build by man," Alyssa said, "and you think it's too small?"

"Casterly Rock his higher," Bash shrugged, "I'm not saying it's not impressive. Just that I thought it would be taller."

"Casterly Rock is built on a cliff, so that's cheating," Alyssa stated, "You are making me regret bringing you."

"No, you are not. You love my company," Bash smirked, "Or you would have gotten rid of me years ago."

"It's not too late yet, love," Alyssa said in fake seriousness, "I might just leave you here. Maybe you can be a Builder. That way you can make sure the Wall finally reach your height expectations."

"Jory would not allow you to do that, would you?" Bash looked at the Captain of Guards who had accompanied them on their journey.

Jory gave Bash his signature wry smile, "You think me so foolish that I would defy the She-Wolf of Winterfell?"

Alyssa sent him a smug smile as they reached Castle Black and the gates. The castle wasn't much of a castle, just several stone towers and timber keeps. When she, Jory, Bash and a few Stark guards rode in everyone seemed to stop what they were doing to watch them.
