-Y/Ns pov-

Suddenly two hands grab my waist, turn me around and soft lips crash into mine. Like an idiot I just stand there, not able to react to the kiss. Slowly James breaks us apart, his eyes looking hungry for more.

"I'm sorry, I thought-"

"Th-That's not- I-I do-"
I stumble around the words, my mind that was filled with so much thoughts just a second ago is completely blank.

"Sugar?" His hand gently caresses my cheek.
He looks at me like he's waiting for me to resist.

Sugar...

The one word I hated the most turned into the one word I never want to hear from anyone else except James.

You have a car. Leave the city with him. If noone can find you neither of you has to go. No, that's a lie. But if a lie could give you hope... Lie to yourself, Y/N. Just one night.

"Can you drive?"

Soft chuckles leave James' mouth but it doesn't take long for him to realise that I mean it.

"You still have to leave-"

"Not if I lie to myself. Can you drive?" I grab the keys from my purse and smile.

In disbelieve he shakes his head and takes the keys.
"Are you sure you don't want to stay?"

"James."

He nods and we head towards my car. Having him around makes me feel... safe. I can defend myself, I can fight. But with James by my side I know I don't have to. I guess that's the point of falling for someone. Feeling safe with them. Feeling at home when they're around.

After an hour of terrible driving we finally get to a silent, lonely place. The forest Steven and I visited with mother when we were yound. A lot of memories return, looking at the wonderful trees. As a kid I was scared but mother teached us that there is nothing to fear in the dark. Not as long as we truly believe it.

"Remind me to not let you drive again." I say as I leave the car, laughing.

"Come on, Y/N, I don't drive that bad." James leaves the car too, obviously annoyed from my comment.

"Excuse you?" I raise an eyebrow at him but can't keep a serious face.
"Now follow me, James. If you're not afraid that I'll beat you up."

I can hear his footsteps as he follows me into the darkness. My hand brushes against the trees as I take deep breathes. The air from the forest feels much cleaner. In my head I trace the way to mothers secret cabin. Nowhere I feel as close to her as I do here.

"Just follow the moonlight, Y/N." I miss you, mother. I should've come earlier. But I brought someone. James. Mother, what does love feel like?

"Where are we going?"
His voice let's me snap out of my thoughts.

Branches break under his footsteps and I grin to myself. Finally someone I hear coming.
"I just want to spend some time with you."
Suddenly I appear next to him resulting in him tumbling sideways.
"Why do you ask?"

"Argh! Y/N!"

"Afraid, soldier?" I grin and keep going.

"Sergeant." He states and grabs my wrist.

Finally I stop and look into his eyes. The moon is the only thing around spending light and yet I can see every shade of blue.

"Are you staring into my eyes?"
Now he's the one grinning.

"Yes I am."
My lips form a playful smirk, something James never saw on my face before.

He draws me closer and I can feel his hand on my lower back.
"Again you were right."
This time he doesn't let me answer.
"I should've kissed you."
His voice turned into a whisper and I can feel his breath dancing on my lips.

"James?"

"Sugar?"

Silence fills the night for a few moments. Just us staring into each others eyes.

"James?"

"Sugar?"

"Say it again, please."

"You actually know how to use the word 'please'. I'm surprised."
