-Y/Ns pov-

Tony turns to me and smiles.
"There is still one person left, he's waiting in the living area. I figured you two should talk alone."

Talk alone? Why should I talk alone with one of my brother's friends?

Confused I look back and forth between him and my brother and sigh.
"Alright, don't beat my fiancé up, Steven."
I grin, give Liam a kiss and leave the meeting room.

As I get closer I notice a familiar smell but shake the thought away.
"So uh, Stark told me we should talk alone, any idea why?"
I turn around the corner and freeze when I recognize the tall figure standing behind the couch, two hands with gloves holding onto the back of the furniture.

Memories flood my head again, his charming smile, the feeling of his lips on mine, our night, his death, the letter. My whole body starts aching and I stumble backwards as he approaches me. Tears fill my eyes, partly because of the pain caused by the convulsions of my muscles. I try to hold onto anything as I continue to stumble backwards. Suddenly my legs give in and I drop to the ground, but before I can reach it James catches me. I don't have a clue how he got to me that fast, but I'm not really able to think. My chest keeps rising as I start to hyperventilate and a tear drops to the ground. Something starts to squeeze my throat, cutting off every breath I draw in. Waves of heat and coldness rush through my body, increasing my heartbeat.

"It's okay, it's okay. It's me. I'm here."
James presses my body against his but taking in his smell just makes me panic more.

I try to push him away, leading my body to fall on the ground. Just as James wants to approach me again Liam puts his hand on my cheek and takes my hand, kneeling right next to me. Instead of saying anything he starts humming and places little kisses on my hand. Slowly his actions calm me down and carefully he draws me closer. As he pulls me from the ground into his arms I lean my head against Liams shoulder and take in his smell. Being near him soothes my senses and the physical pain stops. As my heartbeat normalises whatever cut off my breaths stops too. When I'm almost completely calmed down I look at Liam.

"How did you know...?"

He smiles and places a kiss on my forehead.
"I recognise your screaming, Y/N."

Even his voice sooths me.
"But I didn't scream..."

"You always scream when you panic, my dear."
He wipes away my tears.
"Do you want me to stay?"

I look up at James who is standing a few yards behind Liam, his head lowered to face the ground. His long dark hair keeps me from seeing his facial expression.

I take Liams hand and kiss his palm before looking into his eyes.
"Thank you but I think I can handle it for now."

"I know you can. If you need me just yell or scream again."
My fiancé chuckles and kisses me before he leaves.

Slowly I get up from the ground.
"So... Is it really you...?"

James doesn't answer me and his hair still covers his face. I try to adjust to the situation, him not being dead. My thoughts are drawn back to Liam but I force myself to stay. If it's James then I have to talk with him. About the letter, the ring... About the fact that it's seventy years too late for us. Finally he raises his head and a kind of shock strikes my body as we lock eyes. I never saw someone looking at me like this, like he could kill me right now, right here. But not because he's mad at me, he is mad at Liam and hurt that I pushed him away. Now I lower my head, I can't look into his eyes. Carefully my hand starts caressing my stomach. Something climbs up my throat as I remember the last week in 1945.
