I got out of the car and slowly made my way into UA with my head down. My hair formed a curtain on each side of my face, preventing me from seeing anything but my feet in front of me. But, more importantly, it prevented anyone else from seeing me.
I somehow managed to get all the way to my class without bumping into anyone. As I entered the classroom, I turned to head down the aisle to reach my seat in the back row as quickly as possible. But judging by the pair of legs in my field of vision, I had run out of luck.
"What the hell do you want, extra?"
"Just trying to get to my seat, Bakugo."
"Apples? What the hell did you do to your hair?"
"My mother thought it needed an update."
He was quiet for a moment and I could feel him staring but I refused to lift my face to his...
"Well, I don't hate it. So I guess it's fine."
...until that.
I scoffed and gave him a slight glare. "I'm so glad I meet with your approval." I said sarcastically. As I tried to move around him he grabbed my arm and stopped me.
"What the hell happened to your face!?!"
"My mother," I sighed out as I lowered my gaze back to the floor and stepped back from Bakugo's hold. I made my way to the next aisle and quickly walked down to reach my seat, where I laid my head down in my arms, trying to avoid everyone. My mother was right...people noticed me.
I was saved by Toru and Sero coming loudly into the classroom talking about how everyone noticed them on their way to school. Everyone started discussing how famous they were after the sports festival.
Mr. Aizawa came in free of bandages, and quieted us down for our homeroom class. He announced that we would be having a special class this morning on hero informatics. But first he was giving us the scouting results from after the sports festival. He explained how being scouted shows that the pros have seen our potential and are showing an interest in our futures.
The odd thing was, aside from seeing a news clip of Bakugo tied up on the winner's podium, I had no idea what went down at the sports festival after I left. I had spent every spare minute training with no time to sit and watch it. Maybe I could spend my next few lunch periods catching up on all the things I missed since I didn't have any money to buy lunch. I was curious to see what the scouting results would reveal about my classmates.
Mr. Aizawa revealed the results on the board. "There's typically more of a spread. But our top two stole most of the spotlight."
I heard some grumbling from the others about how the pros couldn't spot talent or didn't get it right. Not surprising, I hadn't received any offers, but even some of the students who made the final round weren't scouted. I did think it odd that Todoroki received more offers than Bakugo even though Bakugo placed first but I hadn't seen what went down.
"What the heck are the pros doing getting intimidated!" I heard Bakugo yell.
I'm not sure intimidated was the right word, probably not prepared to deal with him was more accurate. Todoroki must have been impressive to receive nearly as many offers as the rest of the class combined. I heard Momo agree with my assessment from across the room.
"Well done as always, Todoroki."
"It's mostly just my father's influence," he responded calmly.
His father...I wondered as I remembered the bit of conversation I had overheard. Who is his father?
Mr. Aizawa interrupted my thoughts as he continued, "With that settled... whether you were picked or not, you will all have a chance to work alongside the pros." He went on to explain the benefits of seeing other pro heroes in action and how we would all be starting internships in one week. "That's why today you'll be coming up with your hero aliases."
