Once the evaluations for the 5th match were finished, we were released for the afternoon. I could tell that most of my classmates were exhausted after battling so hard. I, on the other hand, had energy to spare. Our battle was short, and, truthfully, I hadn't put forth that much effort. It was over much too quickly. Instead of heading to the locker room to change, I gave Sho a quick explanation before kissing him goodbye and headed to the forested section of campus, training ground omega.
It wasn't anything too exciting. I spent a couple of hours moving trees and manipulating branches and roots. I also worked on my shooting accuracy. Once I was properly worn out, I headed back to the dorms for a well-earned break. After my shower, I was stopped by Kyoka with Momo following along behind her.
"Just a heads up, class B is coming over for dinner tonight."
"Why?" I asked, surprised. Class B usually didn't interact with us at all, except to bicker and compete.
"Kendo and I talked it over with Iida," Momo explained. "We thought it would be good to discuss our training today and to be on more friendly terms. As opposed to seeing each other as rivals, as helpful as that can be sometimes, it would be good to meet and talk as fellow heroes-in-training."
"Oh, that makes sense. Thanks for the heads up. I can prepare myself now," I said with a small laugh.
"I figured you'd appreciate it," Kyoka said with a soft smile as she headed toward the kitchen to help Momo set up.
I dropped down onto one of the sofas and leaned my head back. Having to deal with class B once today was enough for me. I really didn't want to be forced into having fun at some get-together. But when Shoto entered the room and sat next to me on the sofa, snuggling into my side without a word, I relaxed. I glanced around the common room and I could tell my classmates were excited at the prospect of socializing with the other group of first year heroes. With a soft sigh of resignation, I made my decision. I could fake it. Sho would be there with me the whole time. I could be friendly and pretend like I was having a good time for just one evening.
I was shocked at the end of the night, when I realized I hadn't had to fake it. I had genuinely had a decent time interacting with class B. As the party started, I found myself chatting with Tokage about our match, laughing as she continually taunted Bakugo about winning in a rematch. But the best part of the night was when Monoma and Awase came up to ask me a question.
"Satori, before our matches started, Shinso said something interesting," Monoma said, his signature smirk firmly in place.
I inwardly groaned, but eventually gave in to his obvious provocation. "What did he say?"
"He told me not to underestimate you and to stay out of punching range," Awase said.
"Now, I'm curious. Why would he say something like that, Satori? If memory serves, your quirk isn't all that impressive in combat." Monoma had a big smile on his face, enjoying any opportunity to belittle someone from our class.
"Oh, I just worked with Shinso on some basic combat moves. Would you like me to show you?" I asked, feigning innocence.
Evidently, we had caught the attention of some of the other students. I saw Kendo give me a big thumbs up and a nod after Momo whispered something in her ear.
"I don't know." Awase looked uneasy. He tried to speak quietly to Monoma, but I could still hear him. "Fighting a girl outside of class doesn't seem right. Plus she's a tiny little thing. I don't want to hurt her."
"Why don't we take this outside boys?" I said with a smile.
Monoma was the first one to head to the door. "I promise to go easy on you, Satori. I'm sure your boyfriend will take care of you if you get hurt."
