(Y/n) woke with a stinging pain. The morning seeped into the room from the cracks in the blinds and the birds loudly sang their morning songs. (Y/n) looked around the dark room, Quackity laid on the floor a few feet from her and Puffy was asleep in a chair, a sword resting next to her foot. She sits up and winces as the tight pain shoots up her side from her ankle. She lifts the light blanket from her body to see herself wrapped in bandages and wearing shorts and a loose tank top, seemingly from her own dresser.
She kicked her feet off the couch and stood up, nearly stumbling at first due to her wound. 'What happened? The last thing I remember is fighting the invaders' she wondered, carefully stepping over to the chair Puffy slept in next to a window. She peeked out of the blinds and saw the streets on a strict patrol, guards walking in pairs down every path.
Her vision flashed, a scrap memory of Puffy helping her up crossed her mind. The house was dead silent. She walked out of the living room and to the front door, where she saw Schlatt sitting there, looking out of the window at the streets, void of civilians.
"You are awake. How do you feel?" he asked, tiredness dripping from his voice as he breaks his intense stare out the window to face her. "My side feels tight, it doesn't hurt too bad when I walk. What happened?" she asked, stopping next to his chair. He stood up and looked at her for a moment before loosely hugging her, avoiding the bandages around her wounds. "I was so scared, Puffy brought you back, your whole side was burned. She told us you were attacked with TNT," he said solemnly. He truly felt like he failed, that he couldn't protect his own sister's daughter from the dangers of the world.
"Schlatt, I'm alright for now, the potion you gave me must have worked, I still have the taste on my tongue. Also, I doubt I would be walking if you hadn't used one," she said, wrapping her arms around him carefully and resting her head on his shoulder. They break apart from the hug and watch out the window together, Schlatt tells her all of their updates and routines and (Y/n) tells him what she knows from when she was in the North Tundra.
Slowly but surely, everyone wakes up, Puffy was the last one out of bed, or in her case, chair. Quackity and Tubbo made breakfast and the five of them sat down and ate as well as talked about what to do next. They were in the midst of talking when a loud announcement was made for everyone to meet in the town center.
Puffy and Schlatt insisted that the kids stay inside, but (Y/n)'s stubbornness held out even after they left the house. "Guys, come on, quickly, get your hats on," said the girl, slipping on a long coat and giving Quackity a spare hat to use to hide himself from the adults who just left. They all three stepped outside and closed the door. The three followed the crowd of neighbors walking to the square, going over some ground rules as they walked.
"Stay by my side, and don't bring attention to any of us, something tells me this will be something bad," instructed (Y/n). "Let's meet back at the house if anything bad happens," recommends Quackity. Tubbo grabs onto (Y/n)'s uninjured side, holding onto her jacket as he walks behind her.
Next to the fountain, many armed troops stood behind their authority. The man speaking was decorated in medals and a crisp uniform and spoke into a megaphone. "This town of L'manburg is now a military camp! No one is allowed in or out unless authorized to do so. Furthermore, all armed citizens who fought against us shall be captured and given jobs to serve Seaglary," he spoke more, his words were harsh and final, making the crowd flinch.
Some of the recognizable fighters from the day before started shrinking back into the crowd to try to evade being picked out first. (Y/n) spotted Puffy and Schlatt towards the front of the crowd. A sharp pain erupted in (Y/n)'s bandaged arm was firmly grasped, making her yelp in surprise. A soldier ripped her away from Tubbo and Quackity.
She was lifted off the ground a few inches as she was held up by her arm, letting out a grunt. "(Y/n)-" Tubbo reached out to grab her again but Quackity held him back easily. She looked to see other people pulled from the crowd, Puffy included. The man with the megaphone kept talking as the crowd mumbles and talks, more and more people picked from the crowd and taken into a group.
Puffy makes her way to (Y/n) and puts a hand on her uninjured arm. "We told you to stay inside," she said, sternness in her voice. "Well, we wanted to see what was going on," refuted the girl, though she knew that she should have stayed inside and wait for them to come back. The leader of their rebellious group ushered them away to a barn.
No one acted out since the several guards accompanying them had their weapons on them, so they got there fairly quickly. "Alright, you will be divided into groups to work. You few in the back, you set up the tents and resting areas for our army, get it done before sundown," he ordered. A group of maybe 8 were escorted to the side of town they came in on to get to their tents. "You all, you are in charge of the cooking and washing clothes," another group left. It seemed that (Y/n) and Puffy were going to be chosen in the last group.
Pointing at the second to last group, he continued, "You take care of the horses and collect firewood for a bonfire. And you," he pointed to their group. "You three will work the prison, feeding and keeping them in the same place." They were escorted to the tents by one guard. Puffy and (Y/n) walked behind the third person, someone they didn't know.
"Alright ladies and sir, you will be in charge of the prisoners, they shouldn't be too much of a problem. They get two meals every day and clothes washed once every three days. Also, keep watch of them in case they are acting suspiciously, and if they are, poke them with a stick or something. Keep 'em quiet," he finished, turning around to walk away. "Wait, where do we sleep?" asked (Y/n). The guard turns around and looks at her, staring even. He cracks a small smile. "You, sweethearts, can always come to my tent for the night," he said smugly. The two girls only backed away and cringed in disgust at his suggestion.
"However, there is a tent set up by the prison to sleep in, it's pretty small but one of you will have to be awake to watch them anyways," he said, walking off finally. (Y/n) looked at their make-shift prison cells and gasped as she looked through the iron bars. There were many people crammed into small spaces, there were three cells but there must have been about 20 men within them.
She knew right away, the difference between Seaglary and Sempton. Seaglary was brutal and unfair.
