A/n: Happy Easter everyone :)
Devastated, (Y/n) ran back in the direction that Techno told her to go. She was so worried about him, worried that he might be running back into his death bed, that she may never see his bright ruby eyes again. The moon was high in the sky when she got to the battlefield, but now, it was nearly morning. She soon saw lights emit from the house, just over the hill. She started running to the door and reached for the door handle.
She pulled on it but it was locked. She knocked and heard faint voices silence themselves. Footsteps walk to the door and after a moment, it is swung open and a sword is pointed right at her. (Y/n) jumps and throws her hands up in instant surrender. Philza, holding the sword, instantly dropped it when he recognized her. He quickly hugged her in the doorway. She hugged him back, wrapping her arms around his torso. They finally broke up the hug and Phil immediately grabbed her chin, turning her head to the side, as well as looking at her arms and checking for and injuries, only to find minor scratches.
"You are back! Where is Techno?" asked the winged man, bringing her inside. (Y/n) frowned and looked at the floor. "He told me that he is going to stay and help them fight," she mumbled tiredly. "Why would he do that?" pitched in Wilbur, walking up to her and grabbing her hands. (Y/n) looked sadly at him, tears building up in her eyes. She accidentally lets out a small whimper. Wilbur initiated a hug, letting the poor girl cry on his shirt. "He didn't want to risk them finding us! He said he saw someone get punished for running away from the war, he told me to run, I don't know what to do." she cried loudly.
Philza hugged her from behind. "You must be quite tired, (Y/n)," he said as he slid off her bag of medical supplies. She tried to dry her tears but it didn't work so well. "You can sleep in his room if you want. Tubbo is in the guest room, and... Schlatt left back to L'manburg." said Phil, hand on her back, leading her to the far left room. No more words were spoken, but more tears did fall.
Wilbur and Phil wanted to be strong for (Y/n), but once she was in his room, they let it all out, worried for their brother and son. Meanwhile, once (Y/n) closed the door, she went to walk around his room. They didn't have much time to catch up. She observed his handcrafted dresser, decorated with picture frames of him, Phil, Wilbur, and even one with (Y/n) in it. A knife sat on his dresser next to a wooden carving. It looks like he was working on making a hairpin.
She let out a grim laugh, thoughts of his death crossed her mind making her eyes water. She walked to a window, the curtains were light colored, with small stitched in designs of flowers. She ran her fingers over a little work desk, and made her way to his bed, poorly made, probably in a rush to see her. She lifted the covers and slid herself onto the mattress.
(Y/n) laid down and grabbed one of his three pillows, cuddling it and wishing it could have been him. She might never see him again. Her mind was riddled with bad thoughts and what-ifs. She closed her eyes and squeezed the pillow in her arms. Sleep consumed her after a while of trying to clear her mind.
She woke up very warm. The covers wrapped around her whole body up to her chin. She opened her eyes and sat up slowly, a headache raging from crying so much last night. She got up and walked out the room, to the kitchen, where Tubbo was insistent on making pancakes. It smelt good, but it was so late in the day. 'Pancakes for dinner?' she wondered. Wilbur and Tommy sat in the living room, playing some sort of board game. "Hey," she said, walking into view. They look up at her and offer warm smiles. Tubbo made his way to her to give her a big and comforting hug. "Philza told us what happened last night, are you feeling any better?" asked the angel of a boy.
(Y/n) gave him a little smile and nodded her head. "Putting those cooking skills to use, I see," she said. Tubbo proudly nodded his head and looked back to her, wanting to talk more, however, a loud pop came from the pancakes, making him rush to go check them. (Y/n) makes her way to the table and sits down, observing Wilbur's and Tommy's game. It was similar to chess, but you had to move around the board rather than through it.
Despite Techno not being there, it almost felt like home again. But she couldn't remain in this peaceful bliss forever. Schlatt came back into her mind. 'Why did he leave?' she wondered, looking at Tubbo in the kitchen, happily flipping pancakes in a skillet, humming a cheerful tune. (Y/n) got up and walked over to him, spotting Philza in the garden through the window above the sink. "Hey Tubbo," she started. "Yeah? What's up (Y/n)?" he asked, pouring a new pancake and turning to her as it cooks.
"What happened to Schlatt?" she asked slowly. "Oh," his face became more serious. "He went home, told me to come back when we got you back after the war..." he mumbled. She frowned and put a hand on his shoulder. "Do you want to go back, Tubbo?" she asked. After a brief silence, he responded, "I do..."
(Y/n) nods her head. "Alright then, I'll go talk to Phil about it," she said, walking out of the kitchen and to the garden. Phil was on his knees by the rows of vegetables, pulling the weeds invading the soil. "Philza?" she spoke up, making him jump, ruffling his feathers a little as he turned around
"Ah, yes (Y/n)? How did you sleep?" he asked, stopping what he was doing. He stood up and pulled off his dirtied and worn gloves. "I slept good, um I wanted to talk to you about Schlatt," she said. "Alright, go for it," he replied. "How did he act when he left?" she asked, shifting her weight from foot to foot.
The blond man rubbed the back of his neck, pondering what to say. "Well, he certainly was not happy. He cussed me out for letting you and Techno leave, saying it was irresponsible to invite you guys in the first place with a war going on..." Tears formed in his eyes and he looked so guilty. (Y/n) frowned and walked to him, enveloping him in a hug. "It wasn't your fault. You didn't know," mumbled the shorter girl, rubbing his back to calm him down as he started crying on her shoulder.
"Also, Phil, Tubbo wants to go back to L'manburg. I'm going to take him tomorrow then try to come back. I'm honestly not sure how Schlatt will act but I'm almost an adult, I feel like he will be ok with me coming back. Oh but um, only if you are okay with that," she said. Philza gave her a small smile. "You are always welcomed to stay here however long you want," he replied, earning a smile from her.
After it became darker outside, the two walked inside to the sweet smell of dinner being ready. They all sat down together and ate their fills. Afterward, (Y/n) was pressured by Wilbur to bust out her violin. She played a piece she had been working on for a few months, and with all her practice it sounded amazing. She gave the music sheet to Wilbur for him to practice too on his guitar so they could play together.
Soon enough though, they all retreated back to their rooms to go to sleep, only, (Y/n) couldn't sleep. She tossed and turned in bed until finally, she got up. The young girl put on her shoes and a big jacket, one from Techno's closet. She walked out of her room into the pitch-black and dead silent house. She tip-toed to the front door and quietly walked out. (Y/n) shivered at the air hitting her legs, pulling her nightgown down to try to cover more of her legs.
Snow was falling softly, the air was frigid, but she walked on. (Y/n) marched through the woods until she came across the now frozen river next to the Blitz Den. She walked through the blinds and turned on one of the oil lanterns left there from the last time they went. She laid her back against the cold smooth wall and just sat. Out of nowhere though, she heard a noise. Rustling in the bushes. She sat up and quickly turned off the lantern, holding her breath as the footsteps grew nearer.
Her eyes had still not adjusted to the dark when she hears a loud noise, a cough. Snow crunched and leaves blew in the wind. All was still for a brief moment until a hand pulls back the vines covering the entrance. Her heart stopped.
