Chapter 130: Reflection

Nagulat naman ako nang biglang may umupo sa tabi ko.

Nandito ako ngayon sa likod ng bahay sa nakaupo sa bench malapit sa may pool area.

"Ikaw pala." I awkwardly look at him.

It's Kurt.

Mabilis ko namang inilihis ang paningin ko nang magtama ang mga mata namin.

I nibble my lips and dug my nails in my palm.

'I can't still look at him, especially now when I already know that he is Nat-Nat.'

"Why are you here? Can't sleep?" He ask.

'But I think Blake is right hindi pwedeng habang buhay ko siyang iwasan.'

"Nagpapahangin lang, at sinusulit narin ang pagtingin sa paligid kung sakaling matagal pa ulit bago ako makabalik dito." At kung makakabalik pa nga ba ako.

He nod. As if he know what I meant.

Naalala ko naman ang nangyari kanina sa may garden.

One moment I was happy because I'm going back in Academy even though I didn't get a chance to meet my parents, Then, I break down because of the past I remember and I cry, regretful when I finally meet him. And, now his here beside me.

"Take this, it's cold." Nagulat ako ng ibinigay niya sa akin ang dala niyang jacket. Napatingin ako sa suot niya he's wearing a long sleeve sweater shirt so I think he didn't need the jacket.

"Ahh. Salamat." Kahit ngatataka sa inasal niya ay kinuha ko nalang ito, at isa pa hindi naman masyadong malamig ang hangin kaya hindi ko rin magagamit.

We silently sit together.

Inabala ko naman ang sarili ko sa pagtitig sa reflection ng buwan sa tubig ng pool. Bilog na bilog ito at tila kumikislap samahan pa ng mga mumunting bituin sa paligid nito. Napatingala ako sa itaas ang ganda ng langit.

"Ang ganda." Sa isip ko lang sana iyon." Yes, it's beautiful." I heard him agree. Did I say it out loud? Napabaling naman ako sa kanya at patuloy parin s'ya sa pagtitig sa repleksyon ng buwan sa tubig. Kaya napatitig ako sa kanya, he looks calm and very familiar now.

"Anong ginagawa mo dito?" Hindi ko napigilang itanong sa kanya. Nabaling naman ang atensyon niya sa akin.

"Did I disturb you here?" He calmly ask. Napailing ako. Tinitigan niya ako na parang may hinihintay na sabihin ako, but I didn't speak again. Matagal pa s'ya ulit bago nakapagsalita. "I come here to get a fresh air too." He said. Even though he looks calm, his face is still blank. Not as blank of Blake though. I avoided his gaze and silently take a deep breath.

Minutes had past and no one take an initiative to talk first. His sitting quietly beside me and seems like enjoying the night and view while I'm silently nervous and didn't know what I should do, at pinag-iisipan kung papasok ba ako sa loob at iwanan siya o kung kakausapin ulit s'ya.

And I choose the latter.

"K-Ku- If you still want to stay here for a while, I will now go first inside then." He suddenly said. "Ahh..." I don't know what to say. Binalingan niya ako ng tingin. "But, before I go I just want to say that it's not your fault in what happened way back. We should be the one to blame in everything that happened to you and Viny, I'm sorry for what we have done." Hindi ako nakapagsalita dahil sa sinabi niya. "And, always remember that you don't need to say sorry to me because you didn't do anything bad, you didn't break your promise to me Li and you know what I'm so thankful that when I first meet you again you don't remember anything about our friendship because you deserve it, you deserve to forget the ugly past and just be the present Samantha that I know, that we know." He stand-up. And I thought he will going to leave. "But, I know the past is still precious to you specifically the happy memories and the person that you met there. However, Samantha if you think that the past is the one who's holding you not to move forward and causing you pain we can understand if you let go and move on. You didn't need to promise anything now. I'm, sure Li can understand you if ever. Also, I'm happy to be your friend in the past and..... specially now, Samantha." I just can't believe on what he said. "I guess well just talk next time, I go for now." I'm speechless, that even he bid goodbye and go inside the house I didn't utter a single word. My mind is in chaos ang bilis din ng tibok ng puso ko. I can't process anything. All, I just think is if Viny can really understand. And, I'm so sorry Nat but already did a promise.
