•Part 2 to "I regret a lot of things..."•
SPOILERS FOR TLOU2, ITS A LONG ONE 2000+ WORDS !!

You left Jackson in the middle of the night, no goodbyes, no trace of you left other than the furniture in your home. You packed the essentials in your backpack and your remaining belongings were shoved recklessly into boxes and bags and thrown in the closet in your bedroom. You didn't care about the breaking of the glass in picture frames that had framed photos of you and Ellie. Your rage made you deaf to the crying of your heart as you packed up and were ready to disappear.
You made it out of Wyoming by sunrise, stopping only to let your horse drink and catch its breath. You wanted to be so far away from Jackson you'd forget what the town even looked like. That's exactly what you did, for weeks you travelled, unsure of where you were going. You didn't want to live on the run, you wanted to find somewhere and make it safe for you. Maybe a shelter for survivors even.
You found the place in Idaho. In the middle of the day, you had stopped to rest, just sitting in a clearing while your horse grazed you saw it. Barely visible amongst all the trees, high above you, a house sat all alone. Something about it struck you as safe. High up enough and near a cliff side so it'd be easy to defend, you bet it probably was gated which made it even more worth it. You saddled your horse quickly and began to ascent.

It's been a year since you moved into the manor atop the mountain. The climb was horrendous but absolutely worth it. The place was so well hidden and hard to get to that it was pretty much untouched by the apocalypse. So far you had helped a handful of people, you had place a sign in the clearing you saw the house at offering help and shelter to survivors. The winter had been the hardest part of being up here, the climb down was treacherous and the climb up near impossible but both were necessary evils to attain supplies.
The best part about the manor, was the balcony that over looked the entire valley. You sat up there most of the time, just enjoying the sun and the safety this place provided. You were sitting there now, soaking in the sun while your horse lazily chewed through the growing grass in the front yard that had a huge privacy fence you almost broke your leg climbing over. You heard a soft call of "hello?" And sighed. You stood stretching your limbs and making your way to the gate, guns and knives attached to your body as you approached. There was a hole in the fence big enough for you to peer through, when you looked and saw who stood there. You flung the gate  open.
"Ellie fucking Williams." You greeted with a small smile, the smile vanishing when you saw Dina at her side. Shimmer waiting impatiently behind them. Your horse however was ecstatic to see them and Shimmer. You held the gate open ushering them inside the safety of the manor.
"Are you sure-" Ellie started.
"Get inside, I'm not that much of an asshole." You rolled your eyes. Shimmer trotted inside greeting your horse with an eager whinny. It made your heart warm a little to see your horse so content.
"Hey (YN). It's uh be a while." Ellie nervously greeted scratching the back of her neck. You nodded in agreement stalking toward the safety of your home.
"Come in, I have some supplies you guys can take. What are you two even doing up here?" You asked holding the door open behind you. The silence that followed your question made you nervous.
"Jackson's been running low on supplies. There was a raid on the town. Too many people hurt and not enough to go out for food and supplies. Maria sent us to get as much as we could." Dina explained sadly. You tensed up at that, as much as you hated what happened with Ellie, that town was still your home. Dina and Ellie trailed behind you as you lead them through the manor, pausing at a storage closet full of hiking supplies. People in this area loved to hike so it wasn't difficult to find a small shop that wasn't completely picked over. You yanked a couple backpacks and a duffel bag out, tossing them to the two women.
"So... you're gonna help us? Even after..." Ellie asked, anxiety filling her tone. You barked a laugh and lead them to your kitchen/dining room, motioning them to take a seat.
"I have been helping whoever I could for a year. I'm not going to turn you away when you desperately need my help, regardless of the fact that Ellie cheated on me." You explained bitterly, satisfaction sparked in your chest when Ellie flinched at the words. Dina however frowned at you as you pulled cans of food out from your cabinets. You had just restocked, and maybe it was guilt that settle in you for not being there to help during the raid, but you set out enough food to make a decent difference in them.
"Well, thank you." Dina murmured when you stopped setting food on the counters.
"I'm gonna go see what medical stuff I can send with you. Go ahead and pack up all this stuff." You nodded towards the pile of food and then stalked off to one of the bathrooms where you had a closet stockpiled with medical supplies. As it turns out, not very many people wanted to settle in Idaho and with its low population up in the northern reaches, supplies weren't terribly hard to come by.
"(YN)..." Ellie trailed off behind you, you turned to see her leaning against the door frame, those green eyes filled with guilt. You sighed, tossing her a bottle of painkillers.
"Don't start." You warned, cutting her a glare.
"Thank you for helping us. You could always come back you know." Ellie shrugged. You bit back a sneer, you didn't think you'd ever go back.
"Why on earth would I do that." You snapped at her. Ellie frowned at your tone.
"Because it's home." Ellie tried. You didn't hold back the sneer this time.
"It's your home. I don't want to go back, this place up here is my home. Besides I have zero interest in seeing you and Dina together anymore than I already have today." You sighed through your nose.
"Dina and I aren't together anymore. She left after I went to California to kill Abby, took JJ with her." Ellie explained sadly. You reached out placing a hand on her shoulder, squeezing reassuringly.
"Did you do it, kill her?" You asked quietly. Ellie just shook her head.
"She was caught by these people who were keeping her and that boy she was with, as slaves. I almost did it, I was so close to doing it. But I couldn't, I would've been worse than she was." Ellie explained.
